I’ve been coming to this hotel for years. It’s been in steady decline. The fridge in my room was broken. They didn’t have a kettle or hot water appliance. No microwave to speak of. The pool / gym facilities were out of order the whole duration of my trip. And it’s clearly become a sort of halfway house full of international students. They also used to offer a lovely little breakfast which has since been discontinued. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It’s the bare minimum of hotel service. They also have posted multiple security guards at every entrance now. despite this, I didn’t feel safe in the hotel.

Booking a block of hotel rooms shouldn’t be the most stressful part of planning a wedding yet Kim Macdonald and her team made that possible. From being impossible to get on the phone, not answering emails, not calling back, broken promises and rude and condescending tone when you eventually did talk to her she made this experience horrible and guaranteed I will never return to the Best Western Windsor and will be telling everyone to not book there. I completely understand that the Best Western being seconded for contact until October was completely out of her control. However, her attitude about it and the way she handled the blocks and rooms that were already booked is. The fact that there was zero communication from the hotel about the change was unacceptable. We only found out because someone called to book a room and was rudely shot down. From there it was a total nightmare, constantly being told different things about room availability, everyone receiving a different price upon booking despite using our “exclusive room block code” my husband and I booked the junior suite as that’s where he was getting ready the morning of and were assured that that transferred over to a suite at the Double Tree, but that was a lie. My guests only found out about the change because I had to tell everyone. That is unacceptable business practice and customer service. If you make a reservation somewhere and it gets moved the least the hotel can do is communicate that information. Brides beware - do NOT book this hotel for your block of rooms!!

I stayed in this place during the first week, when covid was announced a pandemic. I decided to isolate myself there after a work trip. Got a gorgeous river view room on a high floor, for a reasonable price. The service and the staff and everything at this place made those days and the isolation much easier.

A very nice hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms. Great customer service. Gorgeous view of the Detroit River from our room on the 20th floor. The pool area is amazing! Lots of chairs to lounge on while watching the kids. The pool wasn’t deep but for relaxing it was perfect. The gym was in the pool area and had a beautiful view of the river while working out. A nice sauna that could use some updating inside the washrooms in the pool area. $15 for parking which is across the street in the parking garage. Close to mostly everything and lots to do in the area.

The pool was great! Kids loved it. Unfortunately the only thing good about our room was the view looking across to Detroit. The sofa sleeper collapsed on my kids when they went to get into bed and I had to pull the mattress off to make them a bed on the floor as it was late and I didn’t want to deal with the front desk and having to wait. The carpet was bunches up in a few areas making a terrible tripping hazard. The bathroom is a decent size but the lighting is so bad, when you close the shower curtain you might as well be in the dark. Overall my rating is for the pool and the view only! Would not recommend or stay again.
