BYPILLOW Twenty

This is a very expensive hotel-but the cheapest I could find in the same area that was not a hostel so that’s just peak season Barcelona unfortunately. It was also the smallest hotel room I have stayed in: just a bed, one bedside table, open storage and fridge at the end of the bed and a shelf with kettle etc. No desk and nowhere to sit except the bed. So it really is a sleep only hotel, not much room or appeal to hang out. This is a room for one person I believe. Liked: very good A/C, Wi-Fi was smooth, bathroom was a bit squishy but plenty of space for toiletries. Hairdryer (and a defuzzer!) provided. Fridge was welcome. Staff offered to refill water bottles with filtered water which was good to top up welcome bottle of water. Felt reassured that desk was manned during the night. Very central location, was able to walk everywhere. Felt safe. I requested a quiet room and got it: I could hear some street noise more in the bathroom but bedroom area was remarkably quiet. No music etc expect one evening but easily drowned out with white noise. Some corridor noise and thumping when neighbours were getting settled in but no major issues at all which was a relief considering this is located just off La Rambla. Lockers to store luggage pre and post check out. Disliked: no safe in room, code for door so have to remember this somehow (and I hope they change this every stay - but for some people this may be a plus as can’t forget/lose key card! Overall clean but noticed marks and splashes on paintwork in bathroom and did spot a couple of tiny ants (but literally only a couple). Overall I was happy with my stay but I would return only on the off season as I couldn’t bring my self to spend that much for this room again!

Great location, everything is new, but the rooms are tiny. No place to have two suitcases open. Only room for one. The bathroom was tiny, not enough room on the sink to store your toiletries bag. Our room had great Air-conditioning, but it turns off automatically if you leave the rooom. So you can't run it while you're away and come back to a cold room. The room itself was very very loud. You could hear everything in the hallway and outside in the ally. For some reason they put us next to a utility closet, that they regularly use. It was so loud all the time. Check in was weird. There is no one on duty at the front desk from 11am - 2pm. They do have storage lockers for your luggage, which is awesome. Overall, I'm torn, I want to like this hotel because of the cuteness and location, but it's definitely lacking on the little niceties that would elevate it to a better hotel.
