The hotel is basically two different experiences depending on where you end up. The new extension to the back is of poor standards, with budget finishes and badly furnished rooms. More of an hostel than a boutique hotel. While booking we would have expected to be in the old building, where rooms are refurbished to higher quality. When we asked to change room, there was only a junior suite available in the old refurbished Casona, for which we had to pay the difference. Totally worth it, but we would have expected a better understanding from management.

I truly enjoyed my overall experience at Casa Republica. The staff especially were very attentive, friendly and did everything they could to provide me with a comfortable stay. I felt like part of the family. I loved the breakfasts that were plentiful, delicious and had a lot of variety of foods including fruit, eggs, coffee and many fresh and tasty extras. The room was comfortable and serviced everyday. The hot water was hot and there was plenty for long showers and great pressure. I also enjoyed the rooftop terrace which had a variety of nice cocktails and appetizers. All in all I would highly recommend this reasonably priced option for travelers wanting to enjoy a nice stay in the very trendy Barranco District

An excellent boutique hotel. We had a nice suite overlooking the courtyard garden. The simple buffet breakfast was a great start to each day. We borrowed their guest bicycles several times to see the coast and cruise around the local area. The staff are super friendly and helped with restaurant recommendations and some bookings.

Booked a suite for our wedding, with the intention of having photos taken in the hotel and my wife getting ready in the room. Made note of the wedding in our online booking. My wife went to the hotel in advance to check the details and was told there was an additional $250 fee for getting ready for weddings in your room and taking pictures in the common areas. Was not mentioned anywhere in the booking. Hotel was unwilling to work with us, and unwilling to cancel and refund the booking.
