We stayed here for two nights during our trip to Japan and had a lovely time. 2-3 nights is definitely ideal as there isn't much to do in Hakone other than hike around and take the gondolas up/down the mountain. The food was phenomenal, the staff and service was INCREDIBLE. 5/5 stars for that alone. The only suggestion for improvement we have would be the option for spa services (e.g. massages) to enhance relaxation.

My fiancée and I stayed at Centurion Hakone Bettei for two nights. From our arrival to departure, we are most grateful for the excellent and attentive service by the staff! It no doubt made our visit a memorable one. We are appreciative of the private car pick-up and drop-off at Gora Station, not to mention our drivers accommodating our schedule and even letting us stop over at the beautiful Sengokuhara Susuki Grass Fields for a photo op! The room we had was impeccable and quite spacious. The nightly dip in the private open-air onsen was soothing, as well as the delicious and impressive daily breakfasts and dinners. Overall, we would highly recommend staying here! Thank you to the Centurion Hakone Bettei team for going above and beyond!

I visited this hotel with my husband for our honeymoon earlier this month and we absolutely loved it! From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, everything was perfect. The staff was incredibly kind, polite, respectful and accommodating. The hotel and onsens were incredible and so relaxing after many days of exploring Japan. DO NOT miss your opportunity to stay at this beautiful, traditional ryokan. The hotel's location is perfect, tucked away in the mountainside, with a quick 10 minute ride into town (Gora Station). Dinner at the hotel is so unique and delicious, so many traditional Japanese dishes! This was one of our all-time favorite hotels, especially because of the privacy and comfort throughout. The staff's service was impeccable (from the charming driver to the servers and everything in between) and we cannot recommend this place enough! The room was absolutely magical! Spacious, comfortable, clean with every amenity you could ask for. Our private onsen on the balcony was something we'll never forget...and we loved the foot massager in our room!

Opened recently, Centurion Hakone Bettei is located deep in the hills. The trip from Gora to the boutique hotel is about 15-20 minutes, pickup by private car with staff from Centurion. The entrance up to the reception was immaculate, and everyone that greeted us and served us were very polite and exceptionally helpful. Precisely why I love Japan :) The interior is very modern and decorated tastefully in clean wooden materials. The room we had was reasonably sized, very clean and welcoming. The ‘free’ minibar had two ramune in it (nothing else), and the Nespresso machine only has a selection of 2 pods. The bean desserts were a colourful touch. I loved how fluffy the beds were - although the duvets were a little heavy for my preference - even with the heating turned down, it was a bit warm for my liking. Outside - the outdoor private bath was literally just a bath with water fed on tap from the onsen (no auto-warmer). While pleasant, the view was ... okay. I mean, you can see some trees, some nature - but barely any mountain and no expansive scenery - perhaps I expect too much, having been to other places with such. It was nice, but didn’t blow my mind with wonder. The private onsen was located outdoors a short walk away - and the water was very very hot. It reminded me of a Norwegian outdoor sauna setting. Lovely if that’s what you like! Dinner was delicious. Shabu-shabu with fresh vegetables and A5 wagyu (although for shabu-shabu admittedly I prefer melting A3/4). A++ for the hotel arranging a lovely strawberry and cream cake for our anniversary :) I’m not sure I’ve had to pay for such a gift before, but maybe that’s just Japan. Western breakfast was okaaaaay. I would have loved some freshly squeezed juice to go with it. No non-dairy alternatives - but maybe someday :) Overall - an excellent trip, excellent facilities and very romantic for an anniversary or just if you want to hide away somewhere luxurious with onsen access. The staff are to be commended for making our visit extra special.
