Chi Samui Resort

This place is super relaxing. Just close enough to places to make them easy to get to, but far enough where you are not in the thick of it. The bed was comfy and the pillows amazingly comfortable! Food at the restaurant all tasted great. I especially loved the lemon cheesecake for dessert. And such a calm space to have breakfast next to the pool.

Not Recommended: find an other place! My stay at this hotel was a mixed experience. On the positive side, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, which was a highlight in an otherwise disappointing stay. The hotel itself was aesthetically pleasing, with effective air conditioning, strong wifi, a spacious fridge, and a surprisingly affordable room rate. However, these positive aspects were completely overshadowed by a series of serious shortcomings. Upon arrival, we were asked to pay a deposit of 5000 Baht, which is absurdly high. After refusing, they finally agreed to a deposit of 2000 Baht, which is more in line with what is usual for hotels, but it immediately set a negative tone. The prices in the restaurant were outrageously high, completely unreasonable for Thai standards. A breakfast for 690 baht and coffee for 140 baht are downright ridiculous, leading us to decide against spending anything in the restaurant. This trend of overpriced items continued in the room's minibar, with prices that felt like outright rip-offs, such as 180 baht for a can of Pringles and 200 baht for mosquito spray, while these are much cheaper elsewhere. This created an unpleasant feeling of being cheated. The location of the hotel was also a significant issue. It was situated in a shady neighborhood, which contributed to a feeling of unsafety. The road to the hotel was hazardous, and my partner and I were attacked by large dogs on three separate occasions, adding to our discomfort and fear. The entire hotel became extremely slippery and dangerous when wet. This was a significant safety concern, especially around the pool area, which was not safe at all. The water drains around the pool broke when I stepped on them (and I only weigh 70kg), resulting in an injury. The room itself also had significant downsides. An unpleasant, penetrating odor lingered in the room, only partially masked by a scented candle in the bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was bad, and there was no hot water, just lukewarm. Additionally, the water pressure from the sink was too high, causing water to splash everywhere when turned on. The beds were exceptionally hard, contributing to an uncomfortable night's sleep. In summary, this hotel is not recommended. Despite the friendliness of the staff, the experience was largely negative due to the blatant attempt to extort as much money as possible from the guests, the poor and unsafe conditions, the hazardous location, and the poorly thought-out room design.
