Location for access to downtown area and marina was decent - within walking distance; lots of local restaurants/many options. Restaurant service was great. Hotel, however, has lots of upgrades I would recommend. 1. To start, carpeting in the rooms need updating. The smell emanating from the floor is stale. 2. Add microwave in the room - top floors! 3. Add signage on floors with amenities- no way to tell where the gym, business area, or pool area are located without searching around. 4. Ensure all staff know that NO Shuttle exists from the airport when asked.

The best part about this hotel is really the staff. They were very friendly. Other than that, everything else was mediocre. The gym is falling apart. There is no microwave in the rooms to re heat your food. The garage is extremely tight. If you have a big car, it will definitely test your skills. If you look at the exit ramp of the garage, you will see a lot of marks on the wall. I don't get why they can't just add a mirror to help drivers out.

This hotel needs some work. Starting with the garage that's extremely tight with narrow turns, the elevators that certain buttons only work intermittently, the WiFi that hasn't worked properly as of yet, to the gym where the rubber is peeling and hanging off every dumbbell. Lots of work. The best part of this hotel is the restaurant, which has probably the nicest staff I've had in recent memory. Great food at a great price as well. I'd rather hang out there than my room with the very old carpet and low ceilings.

I recently stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego Downtown, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The check-in process was needlessly stressful due to a communication issue with the staff. Despite having booked a room for four people, the receptionist insisted it was only for two. When I tried to show my booking confirmation, she refused to look at it, causing unnecessary tension. The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The waiter insisted that we could only order the American breakfast because the chef was too busy, promising a 30-minute wait for any other options. Strangely, our friends, who ordered differently, received their meals within five minutes. The waiter failed to communicate that even within the American breakfast, there were choices for eggs and other components. Adding to the frustration, the waiter explicitly mentioned the expectation of tips without providing a service that warranted it. Overall, the check-in process and breakfast experience significantly detracted from the enjoyment of our stay. I hope the management addresses these issues to ensure a more pleasant stay for future guests.

This Hilton Property was really great besides the elevators. Close to the highway to get Ubers to the greater San Diego area, close to Gas Lamp and walking distance to the water front. No joke though, the elevator was so bad it could take 10 min to get downstairs. The pool on the rooftop was also beautiful and made for a nice spot to enjoy sunshine since the wind at the beach made it a little chilly. The buildings blocked the wind here. They also no longer have the airport shuttle and they don't have any little area to buy snacks or drinks.
