A sanctuary within the bustling medina, this beautiful maison d’hotes offers five-star services of its more luxirious sister Dar el Jelb. Although room is not as spacious as Dar el Jelb, guests are treated with the same lifestyle and have access to beautiful courtyard and rooftop restaurant. Although my room is small, it is beautifully and tastefully appointed, bed is very comfortable and complimentary dates and chocolates are icing on the cake. The only minor downside, at least for me, was that one of the serveurs at rooftop restaurant was not very attentive, but overall, food and experience were fantastic.

Fabulous hotel! Very friendly and helpful concierge. A bit tricky to get to via taxi but some drivers can do it. Many amenities also. If you are considering staying, do it!

A really nice place to stay away from the worst of the chaos and dirt in Tunis! The room was very pleasant and very clean. The bed was comfortable and allowed for a very good night's sleep. It is a short walk from the main sights in the Medina and also a short walk to the main road from which it is easy to hail a taxi. The hotel's facilities are also very plesant. While it is a circuitous walk through the building from the main hotel reception, this part of the complex has its own door to the street for which a key is provided. Whilst the staff was very pleasant and helpful, service was a bit patchy, e.g. coffee and tea was provided in the room but no cup to drink it from. On two out of the five days my bathmat was taken but not replaced (and the marble floor needed one). On the final day I ordered breakfast in my room and they brought the wrong items. Breakfast was fine - viennoiserie, cereal, cake, cheese, charcuterie, bread, and freshly-cooked eggs. Also delicious freshly-squeezed orange juice. Overall it was great value for money and I would give it five stars once it has tweaked its service.

That's excellent. I can fully recommend it to Japanese people. It is a separate building of a famous five-star hotel called Dar el jeld, but it is actually connected internally and the reception is shared. You can also use the sauna and massage with bathrobe slippers. The sauna is free, but reservations must be made in advance every 30 minutes. The room is very compact unlike EL JED, but it has an exotic, modern and stylish layout, with a refrigerator and pot, all amenities, and plenty of hot water for the shower. Free chocolate and fruit will be provided as a nightcap. Preliminary emails were also in English, and responses were quick. This will cost you less than 10,000 yen per night if you are single. (El jeld costs about 30,000 yen.) The location is one minute into the medina from the administrative center of Kasbah Square, so it's safe and easy to get to the main street. However, there are some barricades and taxis may not be able to get close, so it's easier to catch a taxi if you step out a little. There is a sign saying El jeld and a yellow door, so which is the entrance? I think? A guard is standing at the real entrance. I think 10 EUR for breakfast is too expensive for the content. If you walk 5 minutes towards the medina, there are several cafes that open from 8am, so I think that's enough.
