our room it was absolutely freezing, my partner went to reception to ask someone to come look at it, we waiting in the mean time he got a bath to warm himself up, for 40 minutes later of me sat in my coat in the room still we had a call from reception to tell us there was no maintenance at that time of night but they could move us. At 10:30pm We moved into a much better room but we was greeted by a couple of pubes and poo stains in the toilet. Apart from that it was a lovely stay, we use the Marriott a lot and it’s a shame it wasn’t as peaceful as it normally was

So disappointed with this place. Having looked at the other reviews I can now see why so many people have complained. The bedrooms are mid. The hotel menu is overpriced. The pool area is just basic and is barely being held together with tape. The roads around us were closed and so our Uber ears delivery driver couldn’t reach us. Spoke to receptionist about this to only be rudely spoken back to that they reopen at 6am. Surely if she knew about this beforehand we should have been informed? Not to mention you have to PAY £7 a day for parking here. I came here for my anniversary with my husband and I’m going to bed hungry tonight because all the roads are closed. The restaurant has stopped serving and they won’t make exceptions. I refuse to pay for room service and have them bring it up for me for an extra £5 on top of everything. What an absolutely AWFUL experience. Don’t come here. I don’t recommend it. We won’t be coming back.

If you’re looking to stay here, find somewhere nicer closer to York instead! I never leave one star reviews, but it was honestly the worst stay I’ve ever had. I chose this hotel as it has a pool and I wanted to treat my partner with a nice relaxing stay and we got exactly the opposite. By the end I was so stressed and couldn’t wait to leave. The pool is used for ‘Water Babies’ between 10am to 12pm, so you can’t actually use the pool. You can’t relax in the sauna or steam room as you can only hear screaming. The changing rooms were grubby and there wasn’t room to get changed as 20-30 babies turned up during the short time we were there. One of the showers didn’t work and the other had tape holding it together. The rooms were shabby, with hot air conditioning that wouldn’t switch off and an uncleaned toilet. You had to pay for parking which wasn’t advertised. I complained at reception, and then was asked to stand away from reception for 20 mins whilst the hotel manager finished her paperwork. When the hotel manager eventually had time for me she couldn’t care less, even when I got quite upset that it was an early Christmas present. At no point during booking or checking in was I told I wouldn’t be able to use the pool. The hotel manager told me that they regularly rent out the pool and they never advertise that you won’t be able to use the pool when booking.
