Our stay at the Eliza Thompson house was the highlight of our stay in beautiful Savannah. We arrived a day earlier than expected due to a dismal weather forecast for the planned travel day, but when we called ahead, they were able to accommodate us in the same room. They won our hearts when we arrived tired and hungry after our eight-hour drive. We were too tired to go out to eat. When we got to our room, they had brought a tray of appetizers and a bottle of wine. For the rest of the stay, the staff were equally friendly and accommodating. We especially enjoyed the nightly parlor gatherings, where we enjoyed food and drinks and socializing. We have stayed in many B&B’s in many countries, and this was one of the best.

Wonderful location - idyllic Savannah. I much preferred this spot to the busier city market or River street areas. Everything was still very walkable and the trolley stop is only a couple blocks away. The staff were friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated them keeping our luggage for us before check-in so we could start exploring. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was just so-so. It was convenient in the pretty courtyard but nothing we had was just excellent. The coffee was weak and didn’t have any flavor. The evening food was also mediocre. I wouldn’t complain if it were truly “included” but they charge $35/day for these extras. The cold bottles of water and soda were nice. Those are available anytime.

The house is only a few blocks from Forest Park and a 25 minute scenic and savory walk to the riverfront. The staff tell you they are located on the most beautiful street in Savannah and I agree. We stayed in the comfortable Chatham room whose entrance is on the street. We did not wake up with sore backs because of the mattress, and we felt very safe. You can hear walking above you in the parlor but it's not bad and non existent around 23:00. Breakfast was awesome as were the evening apps and dessert!!!! We visited in January for two nights and have stayed at a good many BnB's. I recommend this house.
