My husband and I spent 4 nights here this past week and had a great time! Yes, the rooms are small, but this isn't some big city, corporate hotel. This isn't a room you're going to be working in or spending a ton of time in. This is a room for resting and getting ready for your next adventure. But, the rooms still have everything you need - the drawers to put your things away as well as the safe are built into the bed platform. My only complaint about the room is that I wished the bathroom had a shellf or counter to put my things. Yes, you can hear the road noise if you're in rooms 1-7 (these rooms front Simonton), but the traffic dies down so much by 9pm that we didn't even notice it anymore. The breakfast was adequate. It was really nice to be able to enjoy breakfast poolside or at one of the comfy outdoor seating areas! *Note* The muffins contain walnuts and are NOT labeled. It's dangerous to provide foods containing common allergens without labeling what they are! As far as location, it doesn't get much better! You're a block off Duval, a 20 min walk to the southernmost point marker, and a 20 minute walk to the ferry to the Dry Tortugas. Jeffrey the cat and all the roosters and chickens made our afternoon card games more entertaining as well.

Stayed at Kimpton Ella's cottages over Friday and Saturday night and booked to stay in a King room. The location is excellent and the staff are very obliging but I was not impressed with the accommodation at all. The rooms are very small and basic, functional at best. The bathroom has no room for a shelf to put any items on. The loud A/C units in the rooms and nearby reception meant we slept with earplugs each night and the rooms face directly onto the road, which is around 10 feet away from the front door. The breakfast was adequate for what we needed (although not exactly extensive) and the the pool area doubles nicely as outdoor breakfast area. Including taxes, a two night stay was $755 which is way over the odds for this hotel. Next time we come ro Key West, will be staying next door at the Paradise Inn which looked far nicer for a similar price.

HORRIBLE best describes Ella’s Cottages located in Key West, Florida. After we checked in we went to their only pool and there were several people SMOKING. We sat there for forty five minutes. Several other couples came to the pool but they just walked away due to them smoking. We watched several hotel staff walk by them and they didn’t say anything. The hotel lobby is just steps from the pool. When we decided to leave that area I went inside the lobby and asked the manager what is their smoking policy and she told me that smoking isn’t allowed on their property. Guess what she didn’t tell them anything. She needs to be fired for allowing this to continue. We will NEVER stay here again. HORRIBLE. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

I stay at Kimpton a lot. This one is nice, just a tough location. The parking is very very tight. The room I had faced the street so it was loud at night. I would recommend you specifically ask for an inner room. The pool is cute but small. The other Kimpton down the street is honestly much better. I stayed there last year and the pool is larger, has a bar and features live music. No coffee in the room, so you’ll need to wander to the pool area for it. There is a cute porch to sit on and people watch, but again, with that you have to accept the noise level. Room was super cute, but really compact.
