There is a really nice vibe around the area, with music coming from the many street vendors. This place is full of history and requires some reading up on your phone so you can tell what remains you are looking at. I first visited at night and you couldn't see much as it isn't well lit, but returning during the day gave the perfect vibe.

We were drawn to this particular site when the announcement was made that the open site was not fully available and we could see the area where Cesar was alleged to have been killed. It's extremely well laid out and documented, very accessible, lots of different things to see and appreciate. The cats are a positive there are a few dozen roaming around and they really are cats they don't seem to care much that you're there.

I used to walk often to this archaeological site when I lived in Trastevere. From this place you can see the ruins of the Temple of Fortuna and the Curia of Pompey where Julius Caesar is believed to have been assassinated. Today it is also a cat sanctuary that you can support with a small donation. In the evening, after sunset or when the area around is less crowded the felines will come out of the ruins. If you sit quietly on a bench they may also approach you to be petted 😸
