Frogner House - Bygdøy Allé

The place is in a good location. Close to a bus stop which is on routes 30 & 31 from the centre, two stops from the National Theatre. The facilities are great with a kitchenette and the bed comfy and the rooms clean and warm. However, after consideration, we could not recommend anyone to stay here because we had a terrible time due to the noise. As mentioned in other reviews, some rooms are directly over a nightclub and music is comedically loud. And goes on and on into the early hours. The bass is so pervasive that it causes the room to shudder and made my wife and I feel nauseous after an short while of this torture. Add that to the fact that there is no one on site to complain to about rowdy and noisy neighbours and the best we can do is award 1 star (and this is one too many, see below). These annoying neighbours were banging on the walls at 430am and were talking loudly throughout the night, still doing so at 9am when we left the room, bleary-eyed and exhausted and frustrated. We actually went to ask for a room change the following day, by walking to their offices around 500m away to complain. The staff were helpful and sympathetic and offered us a single room on a higher floor, which sadly, being only a single bed, was not usable. This good customer service response placated us and impoves the review's star rating. Sadly in this case it moves the rating up to 1 star, when I would in actual fact give it zero stars (as mentioned above). The staff told us that these rooms were openly sold as having this noise problem and that they were cheaper as a result (and that in fact some people book it especially for that reason). I am dubious about this last claim, but nonetheless none of this was the case for us, who bought the room through a 3rd party with no such warnings. Check with your 3rd party if you are doing the same! The 3rd party may be charging you the actual normal rate for a reduced extremely noisy room rate. We were on the 2nd floor, directly above the noise, in room 6209. I can not in good conscience recommend any room on this floor, in particular this room or neighbouring ones. If you are able to specify your stay in a room in the 3rd floor or higher, you may be able to give a better review. But sadly, this wasn't the case and it ruined our trip.

BEWARE OF WHAT YOU PAY FOR--you basically get no service at all during your stay: - No front desk: Good luck on getting in the apartment lobby so that you can check in with a kiosk. Have any questions? Use the chatbot that does not work 24 hours. - No AC: The room was like burning when the outside temperature was 29 degrees during our visit at the end of June. Our 3-year-old daughter was sweating all the time and could barely sleep. - No cleaning service unless you pay extra ~USD100 per request: It was NOT listed on the Orbitz page--what a trap! You have to visit the apartment's website to find out. We learned via their chatbot after two days without cleaning. To get clean towels, you'll have to either pay or use their free laundry room (with your own detergent). Both Orbitz and the hotel management refused to provide any refund for such missing info. - Barely working blinds: The curtains were not fully covered, which means you'll have to sleep in a bright room in the lovely Scandinavian summer. We later moved to another hotel (Park Inn) and finally got sweet dreams like a baby. The compact kitchen is quite cool and we enjoyed it like a home, but with all the above inconveniences, think twice before booking.
