Great place in the middle of the city, though it feels like I’m staying in the countryside. Management and staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and there is a nice community of people living in the same area. It’s also pet friendly, my dog loves chilling out in the garden and scratching on my door when she wants to come home.. if you like a quiet place in the middle of the city, friendly people and pets you’ll love this place.

The staff here is amazing and extremely helpful. The location is right in the heart of the old city so it’s very convenient everything you need is in walking distance. It’s quiet and surrounded by nature so it has a very relaxing vibe. It’s also pet friendly so if you like having animals around this is a bonus.

Great place to stay in C.M.. right In the old city but very quiet and natural. Lots of trees and animals, lovely housemates, peaceful environment.

The management and staff are nice, friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the luxury that is to have a calm garden. Gongkaew is pet friendly, and having cats and dogs around is a treat! But, beware!!! This ghesthouse seems to attracts weird western men (or is it Chiang Mai as a whole?!) I've been attacked by a crazy 50 y.o. German man for reasons I ignore (he came yelling at me, pushed me, then ran after me trying to hit me). This individual spends his days in the common area, topless and in boxers, drinking beer and looking at women passing by. Another 50 y.o. Irish man insulted me and threatened to hit me if I didn't give him my desk (a desk that another guest gave me before he left). After I gave in, he became more aggressive, threatening me and insulting me in front of the other guests; probably trying to set an example. He behaves like he's running the place. I would have liked those 2 guests to be kicked out. I reckon that it is a lot to ask. However, my feeling is that violence and theft has been tolerated in this case. By the management and by the other long-term guests. It's been a painful experience for me. I had to leave 10 days before the end of my booking. I was not feeling safe there. I've heard of several other problamatic situations that happened in the past (people fighting, people having weird or crazy behaviors). Unless you're a stong dude who can fight back and throw a few punches if needed, I would try to find a more peaceful place. After all it's Chiang Mai, there is an abundance of peaceful places here :) *I'll bump the review to 4 stars when those 2 guests will have left
