Looking for Japanese accommodation...this is it! Traditional home turned into a guesthouse with most beautiful and serene interior garden.Continental breakfast is included,staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Public transportation is within walking distance (bus 4 min walk,subway 10 min walk). Bonus...Funaoka Onsen Sento is in that neighborhood. Highly recommend it!

Great experience! If you’re looking for a luxury super comfortable hotel room, this is not a place for you. It is modified from a traditional Japanese house, which means you sleep on the floor (Japanese style), there is no private toilet nor shower in your room, (there is 2 shower rooms that everyone shares. If your question is “do I have to get naked in front of strangers” no, you don’t), and the walls are pretty thin, you can hear cars passing by or other guests walking in their room. BUT if you are looking for a warm homey, friendly atmosphere, friendly staffs, beautiful garden-view living room that all guests share together, a chance to interact with other guests and make new friends, this IS the place to go. The downside is it’s a bit far from Kyoto Station (20-30 mins bus/train ride), but I think it’s worth it. There’s also a free breakfast station setup in the kitchen every morning. The counter is open only until 9pm. So if you plan to check in later than that, make sure you let them know beforehand.

location：far away from Kyoto city view points as well as railway station the worst experience in Kyoto because this place was very noisy a Japanese lady who slept in the room behind the front desk spoke loudly on phone from about 10:30pm to midnight，but the informmation book in every room told travelers stay quiet after 10pm. I pointed out this to the lady，she just turned a little bit of the tone. Very bad

Nice guesthouse very near with Tenjin Koen Mae bus station, so it’s very strategic with public transportation Lady on the receptionist spoke english pretty well, explained the house rules, breakfast, and the public bathroom, her service was very nice, she even wipe my baggage that wet from the rain and helped carry it to my room in 2nd floor The room itself is not very spacious, we can call it very small, but we searched an authentic house in Kyoto with tight budget so we can’t complain to our choice This house was not that big, the stairs was made of old wooden so be mindful when you step because it create noises in the night I recommend you to stay here if you want to create memories in small traditional house while in Kyoto
