I stayed in a shared, 4-person room. The room itself is a bit of a tight squeeze, but profits from being very well organized. There is a shared sink, sectioned-off luggage shelf, and you have your own little nook with a futon and a sliding screen. The nook provides a nice bit of privacy and 'your own' space, which is definitely a luxury in a shared room of this type and price range. It's almost like having a room within a room, though if you're on a tall end, you might find it a bit uncomfortable. The only real fault for me, was that the air-conditioning was nowhere near sufficient for the space. I visited in the uncomfortable clammy heat at the start of September and while the lobby and the shared area were pleasantly cool, the room was far from. Especially if you shut your screen door. There was a little fan built into the screen wall to keep the air moving, but it really struggled to keep up. Other than that the stay at Wind Villa was great, the owner who works the reception is very nice and friendly, ready to help, and has excellent English which helps when you need help with something and aren't confident in your Japanese. The location is very convenient too, just a couple of minutes from two different convenience stores and a metro station, but not noisy as it's tucked away in a little side street. If you're traveling around Japan and need a comfy place to stay while exploring Kyoto that won't put a huge dent in your wallet, look no further.

Have stayed here several times and always return. Lovely people. Comfortable beds. Good bathrooms and fantastic location. And such good value!!!

When I arrived other guesthouse, I found there was a guest behaved like A CHIEF. I changed my mind to find a different place. It's already evening. I talked to the owner of the Wind Villa by phone. He said that I still had a chance for reservation on the net. I found a single bedroom there. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the bedroom reminded me the beautiful architecture for Japanese tea ceremony. If any guest take a photo in the dining room, the guest will find a talisman on the wall and a shrine outside at the same time. There are kitchen, washing machine(pull the gacha of laundry detergent 100yen), shower rooms. Everything's good.

Exceptional guesthouse ! It's really cheap, you have your own cubicle (bigger than a capsule hostel - and you can lock it if you want). The staff speak very good English and is kin to help you in your trip. Bathroom and kitchen very clean and practical (free tea and coffee, free towel). 100yen for laundry (washing, drying AND detergent included). 10 min walk from Kyoto station, a subway station and some bus station. I will definitely come back here if I'm coming back to Kyoto !!

A clean and well designed hostel with a courteous owner that can speak English really well. It had everything I needed. It depends on what room you booked, but the one I had was a very spacious "capsule" style room, which is typically a lot smaller in other hostels. The capsule-like room has sliding doors that you can lock with a padlock (bring your own or you can rent from the hostel for cheap). Every room of this type had its own window, which is not the case in other hostels. Also a great laundry facility for only 100 yen! Was very impressed overall.
