I spent three nights here and really recommend it! The staff were very warm and welcoming, and the room was really lovely. I enjoyed sleeping on the futon, and the japanese breakfast was really tasty. You won’t get a lie in as you’ll hear others waking up, but it really is worth experiencing, and is in a great location in Gion, and walking distance from a couple of different stations.

Stayed here for one night and it was an unforgettable ryokan experience. We checked in and then explored the area which was very close to the main Gion strip. When we returned our beds were so nicely made (pictured). In the morning we got breakfast served in our rooms and it was one of the best meals we had in Japan. The elderly lady took the time to explain each dish and how to eat it. She was so kind, putting on our Yukata and taking photos for my sister and I. She felt like grandmother :) Would highly recommend!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Yoshi-Ima. It was very easy to access from Kyoto station being a short subway ride away and very close to Gion and it's shopping district. The staff was so warm and welcoming - my wife noted multiple times that it felt more like we were being welcomed into a home as opposed to a hotel or an Inn. The service and the food were absolutely impeccable. It was wonderful to also stay in such a historic building and hear about the long history of the Yoshi-Ima Ryokan. I cannot recommend this place enough if you are looking for a Ryokan experience in Kyoto

Great place to experience the traditional culture. The room was beautiful and staffs were welcoming and friendly. They spoke pretty good English too so no issues with communication at all! The experience with the tea serving, breakfast served in the room, yukata provided, tatami and futon bed was really interesting. They were really thoughtful to include a booklet to explain the details of the tradition and gave a little gift when we left. The futons were super comfortable and i had such a great sleep! The access to the garden was amazing too. We had an awesome stay!

A centuries old ryokan in the heart of Gion area of Kyoto. This is a gem of the ryokans in Kyoto. It is charming and the rooms are nicely appointed. The food is excellent, their service is excellent. They also offer a private tea ceremony at night. This is very nice touch as it is very rare to join a tea ceremony conducted in a proper tea house. The location is fantastic. This is my go to inn in Kyoto.
