This is a great place to stay! Helpful staff, decent rooms, great value! I don’t understand any of the reviews on here - the rooms are clean (much cleaner than the other two hotels on this street we stayed in) and spacious, there are no bugs (I’m very picky about bugs) and it’s not moldy at all. It’s pretty simple, and def not fancy, but not at all a bait and switch. Not sure what hotel they’re reviewing! It’s not luxury, but it’s absolutely not what the reviews describe - see photos! This is the only hotel in Hanoi we stayed at (we tried three on this street) that offered us taxi service for the actual price of the taxi and they were super kind and let us rent a small room on the bottom floor for the day when we had a stopover in Hanoi. We’ve stayed here three times and it’s great for budget travelers.

Scammers, swindlers, bait and switchers. Pretty pictures are not what you will get. Beware of dark alley way and smelly room. Once you are there. DONT GET STUCK IN A SITUATION WHEN YOU BOOKED WITH THIS PROPERTY. BUYERS BEWARE.

An absolutely disgusting room being rented out by swindlers! We originally booked four nights and left after less than two hours. We arrived in an exhausted daze and didn't notice the dirty hallways nor slimy elevator that was the foreshadowing to the room we were assigned. The room did have fantastic a/c (I'll credit them that) which helped us come to the realization of our disgusting surroundings. Mold/mildew everywhere, on the walls, the pictures, window sills, PILLOWS.... Mildew on the bedding was accompanied with unmistakable spots of blood. Bathroom door had to be propped closed because the latch had been torn out and the door would sway open; which was in better condition than the nonexistent shower door. The "rainfall" shower head was too clogged to work so they added a cheap replacement that, if you wanted to use, it had to be pointed to the wall (cuz remember? No shower door!). A desperate attempt to at least rinse off and feel human also failed because the water heater didn't work! Super fun, right? The Old Quarters is in no short supply of hotels so we went downstairs and explained the many valid reasons we were leaving and asked for at least a refund for three of the four nights we wouldn't be touching the room and with a weird smile (I genuinely think he clearly knew he had given us a putrid room) he replied, "We already made up the room for you so we can't refund." We contacted the website through whom we booked and explained; they, in turn, have been trying to contact the hotel about the matter but nobody there will answer the phone.

So the rooms were absolutely horrible in terms of cleanliness. However, the service was good. In particular we received absolutely 5 star world class service from one receptionist named Vu (he said his name meant cloud). He was so nice, asked us for honest feedback of the hotel and carried our luggage out to the street for us and talked and waited on the street for 15 minutes with us as we waited for our bus. This guy is going places. A highlight for me in Hanoi.
