Home2 Suites by Hilton Saginaw, MI

We stayed a couple weeks before Christmas this past year (2023) My expectations for this hotel were just good, due to a few poor reviews. I decided to try it though because of the many great reviews. I have to say, I've no idea where those people with the bad reviews stayed, but I don't think it was here. Pros: All staff was absolutely wonderful, friendly and when there was an issue with my room they corrected it without batting an eyelash. Service with a smile. 😊. Rooms were very clean and all were suites or mini suites. This means you get a full size fridge, a.full size microwave, AND a dishwasher in your room. There are plenty of dishes, a few cooking utensils, paper towels, and a hot pad. IDK about all rooms, but mine had a very nice walk-in shower. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner was very good. Water pressure needed attention, but was acceptable. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate was available 24/7 in the lobby as was fruit at the desk. We did not get a chance to check out the pool or the gym. There's a fairly good sized closet area and plenty of drawer space if you plan on staying more than a few days or just don't like living out of a suitcase as I don't. Beds are quite comfy, but I could have used a warm blanket as there is only a sheet and a thin bedspread of sorts over that. I will take a warm blanket when I stay again, and yes I will stay again. Pillows, IMO, could be firmer, but that may be a personal preference. I had a sofa and hassock in my room which was very comfortable. I believe it's a sleeper sofa as well, but do not know how comfortable the bed part is. The only criticism I have is that the handicapped parking availability is very poor and there's no meat at all in the breakfast. That said, the breakfast does have a fairly good variety and the man in charge of it is so friendly you forget that you didn't get what you wanted. If you expect meat with your breakfast and are staying for more than a few days, just realize you'll want to bring your own. The great thing is you have a full fridge, large microwave, and they have hot plates if you need them, so it's definitely doable As for the parking, the front of the hotel is just too much froufrou and not enough parking. I understand this is a new brand, and they should reconsider further hotels. I couldn't care less about all the "stuff" out front when travelling. I want to be able to get to my room without wading through 20 yards of shrubbery, weird walkways, and other nonsense. The nearest parking out front is far from the door. So, I went to the back. The elevator is around back anyway, and my room was upstairs ,by the elevator. Again, parking was a leap over bushes and AC units and such, and absolutely no handicapped spaces in the back whatsoever. This means there wasn't a handicapped ramp for suitcases or wheelchairs. This made it a bit difficult for me, and I was glad my granddaughter was with me to help out. They did have carts for luggage, but being disabled, I cannot use them. I believe had I needed assistance I likely would have been able to get some there since everyone was so friendly. I expect to find out the next time I go to a Home2Suites. Hopefully I won't be disappointed. Do be aware this is considered a longer term stay type of place. If you're staying only two days, there isn't daily housekeeping service. You can get extra towels and other items if needed however, and I'm sure trash can be emptied if necessary on request, but we had no need for this as there were plenty of trash receptacles. All in all, a very nice place to stay. I would change to 5* if the handicapped parking situation were fixed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying for several days or more, or just a few days with a desire to eat meals in the hotel rather than in a crowded restaurant.

One of the most pleasant Home2 Suites I've stayed in. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast selection is amazing. The gentlemen that works in the kitchen makes an effort to put out good quality items. The floors/ceiling are thin. If the guest above you walks hard, stomps or walks heels down first you will hear them and it's loud. I was kept awake many nights longer than I wanted to be.
