This is a gorgeous hotel. From the outside I thought it was going to be an old carpet-stained hotel, I’m glad I was wrong. The entire hotel is clean as a whistle and their staff is super courteous. I booked a penthouse suite, it was amazing. Attention to details: fully stocked mini bar (wine, beer, cider, water, nuts), umbrella, and other amenities. A super spacious bathroom with shower and jacuzzi. The balcony has a very nice view. Fully equipped kitchen with stove and Nespresso coffee machine. I’m so glad I stayed here. I’m coming back to this hotel on my next trip.

Not usually one to leave a review, but Hotel Baseler Hof deserves the praise! Good (clean) rooms to fair prices and well located near city centre. What stood out was their service. To give you a picture, I had been staying at the hotel for a couple of days and was ready to leave in the evening. So I checked out and stored my luggage at the hotel ready for one last tour of the city. Up until this point the weather had been fairly decent, but on this last day it was torrential. As a consequence I arrived back absolutely soaked. I kindly asked if I could warm myself in the lobby before departure. The receptionist answer (without a beat) was if I wouldn't rather get a spare key and go down and have a relaxing time in their wellness center with sauna and a hot shower instead. I can't tell you how much my day improved! The only reason I wouldn't recommend Hotel Baseler Hof is on fear of it being fully booked the next time I'm going. I know where I'm staying next time, 10/10 would stay here again!

Excellent hotel and perfectly situated for walking expeditions of the wonderful city of Hamburg. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and and also possible to eat lunch and dinner whitin the hotel.

The Hotel Baseler Hof is an old hotel with good bones. The rates are reasonable (compared to US) and the location is great for site seeing. Plus they give you Transit tickets, but we were never asked to show them. The room was on the 6th floor and there are only a couple of elevators, of the small European variety. Room was nice and big (for 3 people), but there was no air conditioning. Thankful to have large windows and a noisy fan. Buffet breakfast was good, but expensive. 20 euros in person, but I think you can buy for less if you buy with booking. Lots of restaurants nearby, but not a lot of breakfast places.

The location is really good and the staff is friendly as well. However, the room was quite small, when our suitcase was open we had to step over it to go from the bedroom to the bathroom. The bed was uncomfortable, with a very weak and bouncy mattress and pillows which felt like they were filled with only air. On top of that, the heating was on during the night, (in summer, and there is a sign explicitly saying that the heating is automatically adjusted) and the only thing on the bed was a thick duvet, so I woke up every night at 4am sweating. We tried to reduce the discomfort by keeping the window open, but with that we got the noise from the avenue as a gift.
