Hotel Camilla Guelfa

Comfortable clean and great service, all we needed for a night in florence

More than a hotel, it is a hostel inside an ancient building which is quite smelly at the entrance and has no lift. The rooms are located on the first and second floors and breakfast takes place on the second floor in a sort of tiny room overlooking the corridor and which also has a bedroom door inside (but how can this be? I would never have wanted to stay there!). They look like two large floors of a building divided into rooms that are not at all soundproofed from each other, in fact it happens that you can perfectly hear the conversations and noises of the people across the street: an experience more like a family home than a 3-star hotel. The breakfast tables are very close together and make the experience cramped. The breakfast is not at all rich (sandwiches, mediocre cold cuts, cheeses, biscuits, muffins, croissants, cereals, milk and juices), it is made up of frozen and industrial products, in some cases freshly cooked, but with mediocre taste and quality and questionable. Not even asking for a well-made espresso, despite being in Italy, because there was only one vending machine for hot drinks. It's convenient just because of the location, but the amenities, rooms, cleanliness and breakfast left enough to be desired. As a person allergic to dust, I found that the mattress and pillows were full of dust, in fact I couldn't breathe at night. In the very small room there wasn't even a wardrobe designed to store clothes and the bathroom didn't have a bidet (unacceptable in Italy, you can tell Italians don't go to a place like that!). Furthermore, there wasn't even a duvet, in the middle of winter, so I was forced to turn on the hot air. Then, as you can see from the photos, the paint was very damaged and there was also mold in the bathroom. Absolutely to be modernized and fixed! The staff didn't seem interested in having feedback on the experience, in fact at check-out we weren't even asked how it had been. Experience NO: I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT BE BACK.
