The location is great. The service is truly terrible. From the moment we arrived there were red flags. Upon getting a booking notification about lack of parking options, the message on Expedia did mention public parking or valet service. This is fine. It was super busy. However, when we arrived the reception person seemed completely unmotivated and amused that I had asked. When asked about parking they said there was a parkade 200m away and quickly rattled off the name of the garage in Italian. Slow down, I can’t search for what you’re saying. When asked to spell it, she was visibly annoyed. Google indicated it was 600m away. I pressed for the valet option. This was surprising to her. They she said, “but it’s 40 Euro”. Yes, that’s fine. Andrea met us at the taxi location close by. Went fine. Next day after checkout I asked for the car and the valet (Andrea) asked for 60 euro. I mentioned my conversation but he offered to call the police as I did not want to pay more than we had agreed. I accepted the offer but he then refused to call the police. He then informed me that it is “per day”, not the less than 24 hours I was there for, so I need to pay more. Scam :-( All in all, we had a great time in Amalfi, on the beach, and visiting all of the shops, but I would definitely not recommend Hotel Fontana or Andrea the parking person.

Location was great right in the center, unfortunately there is no parking so we had to pay €30 for valet for one night. We had high hopes to get a room with nice views, however that didn’t happen. It was family friendly and spacious, kids loved the breakfast which had the usual continental choices.

Wonderful hotel right in the heart of Amalfi! It may only be a 3 stars, but the staff made it a 5 star experience. The room was spacious compared to other accommodations along the Amalfi coast. The shower was dated but usable. Everything else was great, and it had air conditioning. We had a ocean facing balcony that we used multiple times a day to enjoy the beautiful view. It was also surprisingly quiet! One thing, it's only accessable by stairs. There is a lift, but you have to go up about half a flight of stairs in the restaurant below to get to the lift, so it may not be the best for people with mobility issues.
