We weren't sure what to expect staying at a hotel close (2 miles) from the Florence airport... We arrived after midnight, after 16 hours of travel time, including layovers. We took a taxi to the hotel and were kindly greeted and checked into our room easily and without delay. Our room was spotless, cozy, and we fell asleep straight away. When we woke up we discovered that we had a balcony and were surrounded by an Italian neighborhood. It was delightful to watch the community (quietly) rise and begin their day. Ready to begin our five (5) week journey into Italy, we were greeted at the front desk-espresso-bar...bar by the lovely Jolie, with her beautiful, sincere smile, who made us breakfast and delicious cups of cappuccino...then off we went with her perfect directions, to catch the commuter train, which runs every 10 minutes, into the city from the train station which was an easy six (6) minute walk from the hotel. At the end of our fantastic Italian journey, which included renting a car, and traveling throughout Tuscany, we decided that we wanted to rest for a couple of days before returning to the U.S. We didn't want to stay in the hustle-bustle of the city, we wanted a fast, easy taxi ride back to the airport with a lot of convenience. Little did we know that we were going to have a great and memorable time staying for two nights at the Hotel Franchi... The brothers, Francessco and Marco, originally from Calabria, have created a charming ambiance and hired the kindest customer service employees, a reflection of themselves for sure. Alejandro, originally from Spain, created a wonderful bar, for those who enjoy a drink, and he and Francessco brought in delicious local and regional wines. The brothers also serve authentic Calabrian food from their mothers recipes. Oh my, the food and desserts were delicious! Alejandro also put together a compilation of music that was exceptional and played it at a volume that did not overwhelm our conversation, joy, or peace: It enhanced our evening and inspired fun and emotional memories of our time spent in Italy. This hotel is NOT just a hotel near the Florence airport, this hotel offers an authentic Italian experience if you engage it. We were so glad that we stayed there.

Good for airport location. (no shuttle; taxi option 5mins; walk to tram 8mins, tram 5 mins; walk to airport a little tricky to cross/walk on busy roads 15mins). Fairly nice rooms, beds and pillows were hard. Pretty quiet from outside noise. Nice lobby. Requested transfer to other room because it smelled like smoke and chemically air freshener. Close to a local restaurant that was delicious!

Digital Key entry. Download Salto KS app to obtain digital key to open front door and hotel room. Hotel is spotless. Staff is very helpful. Lovely restaurant downstairs and a garden area to eat outside. There is no official reception but staff are in the back office to help guests from 7am till late in the evening but I believe they are not available after midnight until next morning. They are contactable using whatsapp.

No water provided to the guest in the room, no one is available for any service. They say it's digital. Wasting unnecessary money for digital. Every 3 or 5star hotel provides water bottles in room, here you have to drink from washroom. Worst hotel. Don't waste your money. No one is available to open main door. They should have informed customers via once booking is done.

Booked a night at Hotel Franchi to catch an early flight, so we had no great expectations other than it being located close to the airport (Amerigo Vespucci). But arriving we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very helpful and friendly, although we thought the hotel would have no staff as we were told to do everything by a phone app (even room key!), but staff welcomed us and even helped us with transportation into the city and booking a taxi (although it never arrived in the morning...). Hotel was fresh, as well as our room, clean towels and a fresh smell to the whole room. Only two minor things: beds and pillows were extremely firm and the doors weren't very sound proof so we could hear quite a lot from the corridor. The hotel is located roughly 15 minutes walkway from the airport (but we went by taxi), so for the location solely I would recommend this. But the whole experience was very plesant and we could definitely stay at Hotel Franchi, were we to come to Firenze again!
