Hotel Midtown Ratsada

Had a great stay at Hotel Midtown Ratsada. The location is in the heart of old town with many restaurants, bars and shops nearby. Will definitely need grab/hire a bike to get to other parts of Phuket. The staff were lovely, the room was spacious and well maintained. The food at the hotel is also reasonably priced

We had high hopes for this hotel but unfortunately were let down. After being informed in our booking confirmation, and after checking the website, construction was being done at the hotel but would be finishing in October. As soon as we arrived to check in (December at this point) there was extremely loud construction and power tool noise. We explained to reception that we were informed it would be over by now and they were very dismissive. We ended up asking to be refunded for our stay and we would book somewhere else. They were polite but made it very difficult to get a refund, they were pushing back and trying to get us to stay. Eventually the manager came and spoke to us and assured us that this was actually the last day of construction. I was hesitant but she promised multiple times that there would be no more construction from that day onwards and she would also upgrade us. We decided to stay since the noise would be finishing in a couple of hours supposedly. The room was very nice, modern and extremely clean. It was also spacious with a very big bed which was lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable as well as the pillows and the sheets were super soft. Eventually construction finished but by then the bar across the road had opened and was blasting music that we could hear loud and clear from our room. It was very noisy and didn't stop until midnight unfortunately. By the next morning we quickly realised that we had been lied to and construction was indeed not finished. You can't even lounge by the pool, let alone inside in your room without the sound of power tools vibrating the walls. I tried to bring it up with the manager and was dismissed once again. By the next day (Saturday) construction was still in full swing and we were frustrated by the lack of honesty and transparency shown to us. We had a very late flight that night and asked how much it would cost for late check out and were basically met with a brick wall. The manager was not helpful whatsoever and would only allow us to keep our bags there for the day even though majority of the rooms were empty in the hotel. We didn't mind paying extra, that wasn't an issue, but the manager didn't want to work with us or help us by letting us check out late. We thought that would have been the least she could do considering she lied to us multiple times. I again brought up the construction and power tool noise and she was dismissive and refused to even admit that she hadn't been honest. All in all while the hotel itself is lovely, I wouldn't stay here again considering how impossible the manager was.
