Hotel Regina Wengen

Do NOT stay here!!! This is the creepiest hotel! The only good thing about this hotel is the location and the breakfast was ok. But there has to be other hotels with this location that are better. When walking into the lobby, the whole downstairs was deserted and had 100 year old furniture. The check in clerk was very dry and not friendly. Our room was "upgraded" to a suite with a sitting room, but it was as if no one had stayed there in months and it smelled so musty. We tried to change rooms but they said they were fully booked. They also said their restaurant was fully booked but there was no one in there. We opened our windows to air it out and it was a little better. The furniture in the sitting room was so old and uncomfortable and gross I wouldn't sit on it. The carpet leading up the stairs, in the hallway, and in our room was so gross and dirty. Our bathroom was the only nice thing. It had been updated and was very pretty, but the curtains wouldn't cover the window so I had to sew them shut to be able to take a shower at night. The was no place inside the shower to put shampoos so you got water on the floor every time you opened the door to get shampoo. Our room was in a separate alcove with two other rooms, but the hallway had a motion censored light that wouldn't turn on right away so you walk out into this creepy hallway that is pitch black. And you never see anyone else so it's like you're in this haunted hotel all by yourself. There were two other rooms on our alcove, but one room had the door completely left open for two days with no one in it. I couldn't tell about the other room. There was some sort of closet in the hallway with a padlock that was broken and on the landing of every level in the stairwell was something that was broken. Our landing had a broken espresso machine. The breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular. We needed to check out at 6:45 am and the clerk said no one would be there so we had to check out the night before. We had such friendly and welcoming service at our other hotels, this was a huge and sad contrast.

Fantastic stay at the hotel, amazing breakfast and the view is stunning. The staff are very kind and informative. Told us where to go and I wish I could stay one more night.
