We booked the penthouse Jacuzzi suite. It was beautiful and comfortable, on a quiet street across from Borghese gardens. We had a unique and wonderful experience at this hotel. Within an hour of checking in, my husband became very ill. Being in a foreign country and not able to speak Italian, I was not sure how to handle the situation. The staff at this beautiful hotel made what was a bad situation more manageable. I was so thankful especially to Jonathan at the front desk. From the moment we walked in, he was so helpful. He went above and beyond to help assuage my anxiety. First, he explained how to navigate the healthcare system in Rome and my best course of action. Next, he drew a map to the nearest pharmacy. When the medicine did not work, he called a doctor to our room. While we ended up visiting the doctor 5 times over the course of our week stay, it could have been so much worse if we had chosen another hotel. We lost 2 days of sightseeing, but at least the accommodations were fantastic. The room service was delicious and the staff were extremely accommodating. While I have to say we were not at our best or always the most polite under the circumstances, every single member of the staff treated us with the utmost respect and privacy. Anyone who has experienced the excruciating pain of a kidney stone, knows that you just have to suffer through it, unfortunately. However, even though this was not ideal. The accommodations, service, and food made up for the lost time. We loved their breakfast and ended up going to The Mirabelle twice for a beautiful dinner overlooking Rome. The service was exceptional. We have stayed at many 5 star accommodations, and hands down this was the best service we have ever received.

What a huge disappointment. (Trip July 2023) We spent a beautiful week here back in 2019, and could not wait to return-- NOT THE SAME EXPERIENCE. Let's start with the service. More than an HOUR to get drinks at the outdoor bar area, staff could hardly care. Next, housekeeping staff just walk right in, at 9am!, Next morning Buffet which comes with the price of the room is understaffed, plus not enough food causing guests to circles the serving tables and long waits for food. We grabbed a glass of OJ from the buffet and realized after a few sips the entire glass with cracked, top to bottom. Really? 5 stars?. Then we asked the concierge to recommend a restaurant which they claim was one of the best and nicest in town only to learn via a 10 minute cab ride that it only offered outdoor seating in an 88° temperature at 7 o'clock at night. Here are a few positives. The A/C worked well at the hotel and management were responsive to my concerns and stated that post pandemic, it's hard to keep qualified employees on staff. They offered a bottle of champagne plus minimal discount on our stay based on our poor experience. I would have opted for the service and experience a $$$$ hotel should offer without asking. Fail.

I can not believe this Hotel is classed as a Leading Hotel of the World. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in September and will never return again! When we arrived at 4pm and checked in, we asked where we could get a sandwich and a drink, to be told ‘in your room’. We wanted to go to the Bar, but was told it didn’t open until 5pm, and that you needed to book it, as it was a rooftop bar and very popular We then said okay, can we have something in the Lounge area of the Foyer, but was told ‘we don’t serve drinks or food in the Lounge area’ Okay, so, where do we have something? ‘In your room’ we were told We had already booked their restaurant for the 1st evening and then said, can we have a drink in the rooftop bar first - no! It was fully booked This is how the weekend went on - the next evening we wanted a drink in the bar again, and was told it was fully booked and it is open until 1am, so we might be able to go after we came back from dinner else, so we went to the restaurant bar, but there was a private function going on, and that was a no no! So, I actually demanded that they served us a drink in the Foyer Lounge (it was a battle), but we eventually got one. The drink had to be sent down from the rooftop bar. We found this Hotel to be so unaccommodating. We were given a room where the lift only went to certain floors, and this was never explained - it was the strangest of routes to get to anywhere Anyone, who is used to a top class hotel with friendly staff, should not go here!! Food is passable…just! The guy on Reception (the one with the goatee beard - yes, you know who you are) needs to sometimes listen to the Guests, and try to help and say ‘yes’ and not always ‘no’!! If I had to sum him up in one word it would be AKWARD!! Please Note that other staff were fine, it was just him, but one person can make or break a reputation!!! I have only mentioned a few of the things that we were unhappy with, because life is too short, but there is more! On walking around Rome, we found some much better 5 star Hotels……so please do your homework!!
