Hotel Union

Our stay here was okay. I wouldn’t say this is a 5 star hotel, maybe 2/3 star. It’s not the nicest hotel I have stayed in. Me and my partner arrived late at night our flight didn’t get in until around 11pm. When we arrived we were told that our booking was only for 1 person not 2. I booked a package holiday through love holidays, so I am not entirely sure if this is the fault of the hotel or the booking company. The guy at the desk whose name was Sasha was friendly, he helped us out and only had us waiting a few moments while he checked. We got into our room and on my booking it said superior double room, but there were no double beds. They said they only do single beds. I understood this as in some European countries they do not have double beds, but why say superior double if it is two singles? My boyfriend went down to ask and Sasha helped us he came up to our room and moved things around to make it a double. Unfortunately, there was a significant amount of dust and dirt under the beds, old food and crumbs. This made me uneasy straight away and made me question the hygiene standards. Throughout our stay I found that I felt uneasy about the hygiene in the rooms quite a lot which did not mean I had a relaxing stay which you’d expect from a 4 star rated hotel. The bed was changed once, but not the pillow cases. The first night I got a little makeup on mine and it was there the entire week. The room was not modern, the tv didn’t work, it had two English channels, one was the news and one was a football/telesales channel. This was disappointing. The shower was questionably clean, with hair in the drain one of the nights that hadn’t been taken out or cleaned, (it was blonde/grey) - me and my partner both brunettes. The shower also had not been well cleaned in a long time because there was a lot of brown marks around the grout and tiles. The shower also because it was probably clogged did not drain away. So we had to turn the shower off every few seconds to let it drain or it overflowed out on to the bathroom floor. Although the shower was very warm and made it nice when coming in from the cold, I also felt uneasy and wore sliders inside. The carpet in our room was questionable clean with a lot of stains from people who had previously stayed. I think this hotel is okay if you are going to have a budget holiday, if you are going for a nice relaxing stay, book somewhere else, closer and pay special attention to the reviews. It is also quite far from the centre, although there are trams outside that can get you in fast. Despite the fact that the staff were very friendly, accommodating and kind to us, which made me give the two stars. I would not stay here again. The cleanliness, convenience and facilities are lacking.

Staff were very friendly upon arriving and allowed us to drop of bags before check-in. This gave me and my wife a chance to explore city., before returning to check-in to our room.. Rooms wer lovely and fresh towels provided regularly. Bar/restaurant food OK (when we did eat in it)., but we choose to eat-out other times. Location is good very. Convenience is a must and hotel not far from the city center. We use "bolt" as taxi service. Highly recommend
