J Resort

I have to edit this review. We stayed here a MONTH ago. We have yet to receive our deposit and the room was left immaculate. I've talked to the audit department, I've talked to the front desk, and now I've left a voice-mail with Mark Anderson, director of hotel operations and still NOTHING! We even took a Friday off work to sit there at J Resort ALL DAY for them to tell us there is NOTHING they can do for us. Our bank said they haven't received the funds yet, but as soon as they do they will be instantly deposited into our account. I understand that it's just $100 dollars, but its the principle of it. How and why would a place like this just ignore their guests and not return their deposit???? I'm let down and disappointed in this level of customer service. This is something they supposedly pride themselves on yet the ball has been significantly dropped. We spent quite a lot of money with them as I'm sure others have too. Something needs to be done. As far as I'm concerned, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. DO NOT STAY HERE AND BE TREATED AS IF YOU ARE NOT IMPORTANT OR VALUED. IVE HAD BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM A TEENAGER AT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT. I don't know if our situation can ever be rectified, but ill be sure to let you all know when or if our money is returned and what happened. Until this it gets fixed, I have to change my stars. You're lucky to receive one. This is officially the only casino/resort we will stay at in the Reno/Sparks area . Everything is luxurious and comfortable. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating. They treat you like family and royalty wrapped into one! They have done a complete 180 on the old hotel/casino (thank goodness). They've turned into a destination instead of a place you stay when you come to Reno.

TL:DR - as expected for Reno, would have been disappointing in Las Vegas (for the price). They are very proud of their new remodel. In general, the quality of the room was what I expected for the price/location. If you have stayed in any of the main casino hotels in this part of Reno you know they are to a great extent interchangeable. The J is slightly cleaner, but that will change in a year. I do have to nitpick their remodel though - it was clearly designed by someone who wanted it to look good but didn't consider usability. Two examples stand out - first, to turn on the shower I had to get all the way inside the stall. The handle is a good 4' away from the door. I'm a hair under 6' and could not reach it. Second, they kindly provide plugs under the reading lights. Unfortunately the reading lights are several feet above the bed, leaving an unsightly cord noose dangling down. Does it ruin the experience? Nope. Just a cost saving measure so they didn't need two fixtures. I am not deducting points, but my bathroom had no hand soap or towels - this was quickly remedied by a call to the front desk. I got the feeling housekeeping was relatively new on the job and still getting into their flow. Parking is well lit, but the neighborhood is not one where you would necessarily want to stand on a corner at midnight counting your gambling winnings.
