Affordable place to stay. Friendly staff also the bus is right nearby on the main road. You don't need to go to the train station. It's also more peaceful taking the bus and you can see a lot more of Tokyo. There's two stops next to eachother, the first going to ueno and if you walk south 1 minute then that one takes you all the way to ginza. Also you can easily walk to the sky tree and it's mall, about a 30 minute walk.

Negatives : One of the worst hotels I've been to. The rooms are so small you can't open your luggage. The pillows and beds were terribly uncomfortable. Combining that with the absence of soundproofing, we could barely sleep. We left the hotel early and booked somewhere else because it was ruining our trip. Positives : You can rent bikes for cheap. The staff, when they are there, are nice. It is pretty cheap compared to other options. I recommend you spend a little bit more to go sleep in a place that doesn't make you feel like you are in jail.

This wasn't particularly a great stay. The staff is pretty much nonexistent here. Which some people could argue that's a good thing. The rules are not followed here because nobody is here to enforce them. After checking in to your room, forget about any front desk to possible help you with anything. They just take your money and literally leave the building. During my 1.5 week stay here I only saw cleaning staff here. I never saw the guy who checked me in ever again. So make sure you ask for everything you need before you go to your room. Once you leave then they leave. I dont know how they get around calling themselves a hotel because this is anything but a hotel. Hotels change your sheets daily when asked, kangaroo does not. Hotels have a helpful front desk staff and bellman. This place does not. Hotels answer phone calls, this place does not. Hotels have pamphlets and helpful flyers to help you enjoy your stay. This place did not. Hotels usually include a phone in your room, even motels do, this place does not. This is basically a hostel. Some rooms are jam packed with bunk beds. The rooms itself are teeny tiny. If you have anything larger than a dad bod build I would suggest looking elsewhere. I'm not the tallest and my feet reach the end of the bed. Once you lay on you luggage in open position, good luck getting around it if you are larger than a dad bod. I'm a super skinny girl and could slide through occasionally knocking my luggage over when getting into bed. People lay out their luggage I'm the narrow hallway every night and morning just to remove clothes and such. So if you happen to get back around the time another person's luggage is in the hallway you have to hop over their stuff. Its not very convenient. Someone took a stool outside their room and it hits the door across the hall and gets stuck. I would also suggest not staying here during summer time. I was here in spring where it's already getting pretty hot. The air conditioning unit shuts off halfway through the night or day so you wake up sweaty in the middle of the night to restart it. I think the hotel puts a limit on the hours it stays on so you have to tap it every few hours. When you leave and come back you have to wait a while for it to get cold enough to be in the room some days if you are gone all day. I don't see this as an issue in the winter or fall tho. I only saw a few bugs here during my stay which was ok by American standards but i was really expecting more cleanliness since it is japan after all. They do have a few cleaning staff every morning which was nice to know that they try. It just wasnt the cleanest even after they cleaned. But it was habitable most the time. Walls are very thin so bring earplugs. If a person watches a video on their phone or 2 people talk in a room you can hear the whole conversation. The people staying here are the type that are just trying to score a cheap room. So make sure you lock your door. I had mine locked and a few times someone came and pushed down on the handle to see if it was unlocked. Lock it even when using the restroom. Hallways are narrow so it's easy to slide into your room to take something and then out again. And if your belongings get stolen, good luck trying to reach any front desk staff to complain. This hotel is also VERY far from the subway station. You have to walk like 15 blocks just to get to the subway and after a long day, knowing I had to walk those 15 blocks back was brutal on my feet. I ended up calling cabs to and from the station towards the end of my stay. My suggestion is if theres another hotel within $20 cheaper/night to take that other hotel over this one. What you save in hotel fees you will end up paying for even more through transportation, both in the means of money and time. Unless this place is significantly cheaper, I'd suggest you go with another hotel. I had to learn this the hard way. One nice thing about the hotel is that theres a nice grocery store 3 blocks away. I stop by daily on the way to the subway to grab snacks to distract from the long walk
