Beautiful beachfront property, with tons of amenities. The staff was friendly and the service excellent. We booked this venue for a business meeting. They have unique outdoor meeting spaces in addition to indoor spaces. Everyone loved the setting, which created a relaxed and productive environment. They added nice little touches to surprise and delight. I enjoyed it so much that I am planning to stay here on my next family trip.

I don't review hotels that often, but felt compelled in this case because my experience was so different from that of some other reviewers here. I just wrapped up a perfectly enjoyable three-night stay at the Surfcomber and really enjoyed my time at the property. In particular, I was impressed by the service. Every single staff member I interacted with was incredibly friendly, helpful, and came across as genuinely eager to make sure I had a great stay. I don't know if the previous reviews that encountered service problems led to changes, but my experience could not have been any different than what those reviewers encountered. The hotel overall has a pleasant retro vibe: not tilting too far into kitsch, but charmingly 60s-chic. I did dock one star for the rooms, which could use some TLC. Bed was super comfy, but the bathroom was a little tired - my tub had a big chip taken out of it. And other reviewers noted the loud AC, which is no joke: that thing ROARS when it kicks off and on. And of course, in typical Kimpton fashion, the room is packed with eye-wateringly expensive snacks and drinks which you shouldn't even look at unless you want to go bankrupt. The pool area is relatively basic, but very well kept. The attendants were attentive and responsive but they left me alone unless I needed something, which I really appreciated. One note is that the music is quite loud, but you know, that's sort of endemic to this area of the city. I only ate one meal here, but my breakfast at The Social Club was tasty (though predictably overpriced, because hotel) and, again, the service was excellent. If you want to be in, near, and around the south beach area, the location is terrific. There are trade-offs: it can be busy, noisy, and a little frenetic, but the hotel backs up against the beach and has plenty of restaurants nearby. Overall, I loved it here. Highly recommended!

Quirky hotel on the ocean. Happy hour daily and coffee in the AM in the lobby. Right on the beach and a lovely pool/bar area right there. Prices are high, but in the middle of things. Glass of wine $14 so don't be shocked. Like that all over now in SB. Had been here before and love the location. Be aware of a $40 resort fee each day. Parking is $45. Bring lots of money:-)

Unfortunately, I've had a bad time in your hotel. This is certainly not a 4star hotel and is akin to upscale motel. 2 star facilities and weak service. Here are the issues- 1) The pool is not heated as was advertised on your website. In our case they said it was broken but we weren’t warned about this and we had to inquire. 2) The high tides restaurant and bar was closed all day. As a result I was not able to purchase a cup of tea in the afternoon. How do they call this a resort when you can’t get yourself a cocktail or coffee mid afternoon? 3) The acoustics are poor and I could hear both the non stop construction next door and the music in the courtyard. This continued all day and till 10 pm at night. I had stayed at Loews a few years back and I will be honest that they provided much better facilities and service. When I complained about this to the front desk - I was offered a reimbursement on my resort fee. But that's barely anything- as the whole trip was centered around spending time in a heated pool. Never again. Don’t be fooled- it’s not a resort - it’s a 3 star motel with cold pool.
