A good basic hotel: functional but not fancy. It suited our needs as a base camp for our trip, and we all slept well. Family (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed 5 nights in apartment room (Queen bed plus bunk beds and kitchenette). Super comfy bed and sheets! good sized room, kitchen fine, great central location. I'd stay again. Do be aware: internet works only 2 spots in room. Staff was helpful when we needed extra supplies.

We had a great stay at Lake Central Cairns for the week of our vacation to Cairns. The Lake central hotel is very central and close to everything we needed. We booked a family room. It was very clean with everything we needed. The staff were amazing. I would recommend Lake Central Cairns to anyone that is planning to come to Cairns. Their is also some great deals if you book direct via their website.

Seriously awful! Probably most importantly, unsafe. They have completely removed the fire alarms from the unit. See photos. This is against the law in the US. I hope that something gets done about this. Not sure who to call over here about it, but as a parent it’s hard to sleep worrying that if something bad happens my entire family will be in danger. Secondly, it was unclean. We arrived to ants and roaches in the sink. Thirdly, the AC didn’t work in one of the rooms and there was no AC in the main room. It was bad folks. Finally, the bathroom had no lock on the door and the fan didn’t work (well). It’s in a great location and you may save a few bucks staying there, but is it worth your safety and comfort?!

For an under average room the Prices are ridiculous n for it be in the city you'd think a fare price for an un air-conditioned room leaves me unsatisfied n very annoyed come on where is your fareness in this day n age. We all struggle in this world as it is today n all I can see is that all places for accommodation really like to make sky rocketing prices no matter how rich or poor so many can be disgusting n unfare. 2016, when I used to stay for a weekend, it was cheaper n better back then. Then, what it is now .

Look, it’s not the Novotel, but you’re not paying Novotel rates either. It’s an affordable place to stay a couple of nights whilst out all day on the reef or sightseeing. Rooms are basic, amenities are basic, bed linen is basic…. But I will say that it was cleaner than some much more expensive places I’ve stayed! In short, the place served its purpose for us. One of my children left their much loved stuffed toy in the bed - we only realised when we got back to Melbourne. A phone call to the hotel & they found said toy & popped it in the mail for us - at no charge! ❤️
