Lanna Oriental Hotel

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. This hotel is extremely poor at everything. Although it does look nice, I would not stay here and we had a terrible time here. Rooms are nice but what’s the point if everything is broken? Firstly they charged us £10 Baht for additional bottle watered (as they had already gave us 2). This was the first day we arrived and tried to explain that we had to drink the water, brush our teeth with the bottles water etc. extremely poor and have never seen anything like it in my life. The free breakfast was a disgrace, ready everyone else’s comments too, we woke up the first morning and needed up eating JUST toast, also the jam ran out and I had to ask them to refill it (and they only gave me 2 small ones lol). If I had paid for the breakfast I would have got my money back. After the first breakfast we didn’t wake up for breakfast again. They seem to be soo focused on saving and money that they forget they are a hotel who cater to tourists. We had to ask them for more toilet roll and they gave us one, we had to ask for another one because they didn’t refill it when cleaning the room. The room looks nice, but it’s falling apart. Our bathroom was terrible, water leaks out of everything, our bede hosepipe constantly leaked, our actual shower had to be hand held as the holder was broken. So many complaints with the bathroom. Absolutely no room for our luggage, they had a nice big space but decided to screw a safe box there so that section was useless.had to leave out large suitcases on the floor open. They also didn’t actually help store our luggage after check out, I had to physically leave my bags in the corner of the room and don’t get a ticket or anything. On the up side, the hotel is good location but I would find another hotel in the same area, I would never stay here again, not even if you paid me. It is walking distance to most nightclubs especially Zoe’s in Yellow, a few nice local bars, and most of the temples. I would definitely recommend visiting Nimman (china town and full of coffee shops, only a 10 minute walk or 5 minute drive). And you have to go to the mountain and visit Doi Suteph

Can't imagine how this place is allowed to operate by the Tourist Authority of Thailand. A hotel which caters to tourists from all around the world, should have atleast one person who can communicate in English, the universal language. During my 5 days stay there from 15th to 19th January 2024,I had a horrendous time trying to communicate with all the staff. They want to help, but the understanding level in English is sub zero. Even after showing them what I wanted on Google Translate, they couldn't comprehend it. So much so that I ordered fried noodles with vegetables and they brought me soggy pad thai noodles. The layout of the room also defies logic. The futon bed intrudes in the bathroom, the windows open out to the pool; zero privacy, unless you close the curtains. Pathetic experience of my stay in this hotel. Please stay away from this property. The overall experience in Chiang Mai though was amazing.
