Really charming stay. If you want to have the true 'Sassi' experience in Matera, this won't disappoint. It's a bit hard to get to, but if you're in good health and don't mind walking up & down steps, it's all worth it. The rooms can be humid inside, albeit the Aircon system helps. You're sleeping inside a rock after all. I wouldn't just stay more than 1 or 2 nights, or else it may get uncomfortable. Staff were super nice, helpful and accommodating.

A very unique and beautiful place. It certainly is an experience to stay here. The rooms are decorated with a lots of love for detail, everything is spotless. Very nice staff and good breakfast. I would highly recommend staying here!

At first, you are taken by the place and the surroundings, but once inside, the place was cold, leaked water from the ceiling, and the cave was flaking on our heads. To help, the owners brought in space heaters to trip on saying they couldn't turn the heat on. Topping it off, the owners accused us of breaking a rickety wicker chair that was already broken and charged us for it. We didn't notice the broken chair till later, and thank goodness no one got hurt. Their were other dangerous items we pointed out to them, but they were only concerned about a rickety old wicker chair you could get at a garage sale. If you go here our suggestion is forget you are on vacation and inspect every part of the room and video everything because if you miss something they will charge you.
