Our group stayed at the Madras while in Kigali. The hotel's staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is approximately 30 minutes from the airport with minimal traffic. There was no issue of safety as arriving guests have their bags scanned and there is a gated and guarded entry. The hotel also offers hotel pickup and dropoff. There is a restaurant onsite with freshly prepared food. Every meal I had was impeccable and well enjoyed. The wait staff is attentive and with a group of our size, very patient. We did have an issue with the 1st floor rooms not having a/c, hot water and some other amenities, but management made sure that we were happy upon leaving and took great care of us while there. There are several shops and stores nearby and the Genocide Memorial is about a 30-minute walk if you're brave enough to take on the inclines. A few of us did and it was an adventure to say the least. The art work in the hotel is beautiful and there are amazing views from the top floors. Overall, our we enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider a return visit.

Spent 2 nights at the Madras Hotel during a short business trip to Kigali. Hotel was easy to find with lots of parking, and a simple check in process. The room was large and clean, with large fridge freezer, plenty of seating, and the all important iron and ironing board. Downstairs there's a restaurant, and area where you can watch sport whilst having a beer or two! Would be ideal for a long stay if you're planning to self cater.

I went there just to eat. The menu described it would was served with meat as infilling, so I expected to have every slice accompanied by several pieces of beef. Though the meal was served within a reasonable short time, I received dried beef sauce garnished with a big chapati. I felt the beef slices were scanty, but the salad- cucumber, tomatoes, onions and avocado slices were perfect compliments.
