Awful university, filled with the worst kind of people. Furthermore, the staff did not correctly state my last day of engagement (ignoring their own forms) when I withdrew, costing me £500. Do yourself a favour and avoid.

What ever you do, do not study Interior Design at MMU/Manchester School of Arts! Honestly I regret going there so much! Me and 70% of my previous student peers are jobless or working in a job that is not our degree the rest got lucky and got training jobs. Till date we all talk about how we regret going to MMU. They teach you software (Vectorworks) which no one in the industry knows, very bad software can’t even edit the materials or even put realistic materials. Very weak software! Also they tell you to buy Mac book which is crazy! If you are an Interior designer or Architect you know that Mac books can’t handle Interior and Architectural softwares. I and my peers learnt this the hard way. They don't teach AutoCad and Sketchup even though we all asked for them to teach us they laughed in our face and said why and we explained that when we are searching the Job market they are all asking for those softwares, Revit and no one uses Vectorworks. MMU steal your money and teach you nothing. Also you teach yourself everything and you don’t know if you are going in the right track or not, you are always lost. Trust me go Salford I know so many amazing Interior designers and Architects! Also 99% of lectures are useless most the time they will put a video up and tell you to watch it, they don’t teach anything they just expect you to know everything which is very useless because what is the point of going to University to learn? They always say you will learn from industry, again whats the point of going to University.

Overall satisfaction ★★★☆☆ After my yearlong MSc Sport and Exercise Sport Psychology pathway course, I’m overall satisfied what I paid for. However, there were things that I thought the unversity could have improved. The content of the course ★★★★☆ The modules covered a wide range of subjects in sport psychology from professional skills as a practitioner to neuropsychology in sports. The course consisted of 3 semesters. In the first and second semesters, we had normally three days on-campus classes in a week. The main facilities we used were Institute of Sport and Platt Lane. I wish we had more classes as I felt I could have learned better from the classroom, but this was part of a postgraduate course. It was quite independent learning experience. The exam style varied depending on the modules from self-recording podcast style discussion to open-book test. Since the tutors were often leading researchers in their areas, it was intriguing to talking with them. The focus of module was mostly on the basic level of knowledge in sport psychology. I had been out of education for 6 years, plus my undergraduate was psychology and sociology. Therefore, I found that the structure of course was very helpful for someone like me who was relatively new to the domain. However, this didn’t seem to apply for those who studied sport psychology in their undergraduate degree. In addition, they wouldn't provide working opportunities either. Quality of the staff ★★★☆☆ As mentioned above, the tutors were often leading researchers in their areas. Thus, it was a quite good opportunity to talk with them. Some of the tutors were more of a practitoner. Thanks to my supervisor, I could recruit the participants for my dissertation. Response from staff were generally ok, but sometimes it's not as smooth as people would expect, especially during the semester 3 as most of the staff were on annual leaves. The clarification of assignments frequently caused misunderstandings from students as tutors were using the unit handbook from a year before without changing the date but showing the current year protocol on the slide at a classroom. It was somewhat disappointing that most of the staff were not familiar with the procedure that the students could take after graduation to be a licensed sport psychologist. This happens because they didn’t have to take the career path that we must take when they were students. For example, asking about Stage 2 in QSEP from BPS to staff member often ended up with fruitless conversations. Student life ★★☆☆☆ I was living in a flat with my wife outside of the student area, so it was a bit of a different experience from the rest of the peers in my course. Regardless, I’ve heard that a student’s accommodation was too noisy to sleep, and the student area is dangerous and dodgy for especially female students. A MMU student was stabbed to death in the beginning of a year around Fallowfield. Manchester as a city, it can be fun and there are a lot of things to do. I frequently went to a pub, karaoke, bowling, go-carting, and playing and watching football with my mates. If you prefer nature, there are national trust facilities and big parks around Manchester and the transportation to there is normally quite convenient, not reliable though. I joined Men’s football team. I wish I could play more as my course schedule overlapped the game day (every Wednesday). They put classes on the day which hindered students to join sports clubs even though the course is sport and exercise related. This is simply because the tutors were unavailable other days in a week as they teach undergraduate as well as they don’t want to work on Friday. Facility ★★★☆☆ Institute of sport is a great building. It’s new and has cutting-edge facilities to use for research. I wish there was a kiosk or shop in the building. Library was a quite good place to use. However, the exam period for undergraduate was nightmare. There were no spaces in the whole 5-level-library!! Platt Lane used to be the Manchester City academy ground so the equippments were decent.
