It was one of the best hotels I stayed in. Location was perfect, very close to the tourist attractions. The hotel is absolutely stunning with an amazing swimming pool and steam room and spa. Just loved the breakfast, very updated facilities. View was awesome whilst having breakfast. Only regret is ,I wish I stayed longer at this magnificent hotel.

Location is good for the Dom but older rooms for sure. Everything was still very comfortable and present. Multiple restaurants downstairs but only one was open at the time for us. Most things were in walking distance. You do have to approach the hotel in a certain way to get in because of the traffic flow if you are driving.

Very good hotel located in the city center. The bufet breakfast was excelent. The hotel has a pool and a sauna as well. The Dome is 10 minute walking distance; the hotel is located near the Rhine river.

Overall a great location and the hotel has most amenities that families would require. It was clearly built in a previous decade and is in need of some modernisation. The deluxe suite boasts character and space in abundance along with luxury features from the 90s or early 2000s e.g. speakers in the bathroom ceilings and mood lighting. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but the TV and media facilities are outdated. No HDMI connections or casting facilities for kids to connect their iPads and watch Prime or Disney so a chance to learn some German. It's mostly clean and functional but the curtains and blinds were dusty and the wardrobe doors aren't as smooth as when they were new. The suite has a little kitchenette which actually includes a hob but no pots or pans or cooking utensils. In this suite, the drinks in both wine coolers were replenished daily which was a nice touch. What was most disappointing about the rooms is the hotel didn't have large duvets for king-size beds. I don't think I've ever been to another hotel that doesn't have king-size duvets for king-size beds. It doesn't quite work for every couple.... Breakfast is a solid 4/5 but hot options are limited. Very much a help yourself buffet style. No table service for tea/coffee. The suite upgrade for breakfast is simply a different location with largely the same food but it's less congested. The pool was quirky being raised above the ground but it was a nice plus to have on site, and at 1.3m a good depth for families. The sauna and steam room are standard. Parking per day is not cheap at 27 euros. The parking spaces are standard size. Encourage careful driving as the entrance to the underground parking is pretty tight. Staff are friendly, helpful and of course, efficient.

I booked a double bed room in the Maritim Köln hotel for myself and my partner for a special occasion this weekend (25th-27th Nov 2023). I was taken back by the negative check in experience. The first attempt I wanted to check in, a few minutes before 3pm (the official check in time), I was told that our room wasn’t available and to come back at 3pm which we complied. The next time we came back to check in, we had to wait in another 20minute queue, which I have never experienced at a hotel before. On top of that, when we finally managed to get to someone at the check in counter, after a total of 30-35 minutes of waiting, we were told that the room we booked wasn’t available and that the best they could offer is a room with two single beds pushed together. They couldn’t offer any upgrades or any complimentary drinks or breakfast to help accommodate for the long waiting process or that they didn’t have my original double bed room. They overbooked but didn’t want to say it. I have travelled to many countries in Europe, Africa, Oceania and Asia and this is by the far worse hotel experience I have encountered. There was no sense of apology or means to make amends, I tried to explain how my partner and I have been compliant with them, the least they can do if they can’t provide us our original room is to upgrade or provide complimentary meal especially since we decided to book with this hotel for a special occasion. The surly receptionist said that “two single beds put together is the same as a double bed” and insinuated that nothing was wrong. All I wanted was my original room that I had booked over a month ago, and if not, at least some sort of emotional understanding and accomodation from the reception staff. This has been a bitter and disappointing experience with Maritime Köln, and I do not recommend this to couples who are looking for a romantic weekend away in Cologne.
