MerPerle Crystal Palace Hotel

I should start this review by saying, I am very picky when it comes to hotels and how I review them. My rating reflects what I expected, and how well those expectations were met. MerPerle Crystal Palace either met or exceeded all of my expectations. This doesnt mean, I don't have a few complaints, but it means that the things I would complain about weren't big issues and would only improve the already fantastic service provided by Crystal Palace. To really begin you should know a few things. Crystal Palace directs their marketing toward a local clientele rather than toward foreigners. So if you are a foreigner in Vietnam, you might feel a bit out of place here. I am a foreigner, but after 9 years in Vietnam, I feel quite at home here. Only the 5th - 8th floors of thr hotel are for guest rooms. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors are conference rooms and wedding halls with reception areas dotted throughout. That along with the romance hall on the first floor, and the large dining areas on the 1st and 4th floors make this a perfect venue for any occasion and locals definitely rent these spaces out on a regular basis. That said, you might end up wandering through a convention crowd, or a wedding party. Worth keeping in mind. The food served by the hotel for breakfast on the 4th floor is also... interesting. Its not bad. Not at all. I actually really enjoyed the breakfast all 3 mornings we were there. That said, I refer to the breakfast as interesting for 2 reasons. First, it's not western or Vietnamese food per say. It's more eastern food, most of which I wouldn't classify as breakfast. They do however have an egg station. So there's that. One of the dishes they served for breakfast was pancit. A Filipino dish that I love. I was just surprised to see it in Vietnam, being served for breakfast. Downstairs there is a private coffee bar, which is quite good. I'd say they go a little heavy on the milk and a little light on the coffee but ut was still good. Not far from the coffee bar is a restaurant which is very popular with many locals who aren't staying at the hotel, they just come for the food. The noodles at this restaurant are made fresh all day long as needed, and if you've never had pho, or mi quang or bun bo with fresh noodles, you haven't really lived yet. I can't say enough good things about the restaurant downstairs. It also appears to be a good place to nhau after work in the evening. The room my wife and I got was a middle sized room and it was very nice. On the 8th floor, we had a 2 small balconies, a very spacious bathroom, and a decent sized room. I will say, the bed was as hard as a rock. But I don't mind hard beds and everything else was quite nice. As mentioned in a previous raring by a different person, there is no iron in the room. You can however call house keeping or the front desk and they will bring you whatever you need. They also have a laundry service available. The staff here is incredibly king, and attentive amd I'm sure if you stay here you'll have a nice time as well.

Good conventional place. A bit bizarre when serving beef with bordelaise sauce on dish instead of bow.
