Millennium Hotel Durham

I came to Durham with my husband to go to Duke hospital. I was so surprised to find out that Durham had a Millennium hotel because I stayed at the Millennium Knickerbocker in Chicago and loved it. When you first arrive and walk into the lobby you would think that you were staying at a nice hotel but that is not the case. As soon as you walk down the halls all you smell is weed. The smell is so strong you can get high on contact. Not only are you smelling weed but as you walk down the halls you see drug needles and multiple guest in rooms doing the deed. This hotel is not a hotel that you will stay for vacation or with your family but to stay at if you are looking for a good time. This is just walking down the halls, the rooms are even worse. The bathroom door did not work so you don’t get any privacy. There is stains and the rooms smells very moldy. I wouldn’t be surprise if there was mold behind the walls. I also found multiple dead roaches in the room. I decided to check the mattress and it was absolutely disgusting that I didn’t trust sleeping on the mattress and went elsewhere. This is just the worse hotel I have ever stayed at in my life and I would not recommend anyone to stay here. I am honestly surprised that this hotel is not shutdown. This hotel was so horrible and I was so shocked that it was park of the Millennium brand that I searched to find the company that owns it I and will never stay at another Highgate Hotel again because if they treat this hotel like this then all their hotels must be treated like this. And on top of it. I also speak Spanish and the things that the staff was saying was so unprofessional. I’m not sure if they were talking the way they were about the hotel and guest because they think the guest staying at the hotel do not speak Spanish.

The room here was really bad. The bathroom had a waterfall from the ceiling when people took a shower upstairs. Marks on the walls, frayed rugs, pot smell everywhere. I know I sound like a grumpy old person but there are apparently enough decent rooms at this hotel that some of the reviews are positive. It is worse than a lot of cheaper hotels I've stayed at. Oversold on a weekend, there were no extra rooms and no extra blankets and it just generally smelled bad (weird/musty) in addition to the indoor water feature when upstairs shower was in use. The staff were really nice and doing their best but the management here needs to get it together. We tried three times during our stay to get extra blankets. They gave us some sheets to try to help but honestly what hotel doesn't have some extra blankets for guests? Update: On top of everything else, this place has the audacity to charge a "business center and pool fee" a few days after check out!? Never never give these people your money.
