1st Having no one working in reception is a horrible idea. It allows people to have extremely loud conversations on their phones in the middle of the night without consideration for any of the guests on that floor. 2nd A no smoking hotel….but with a smoking room, in what passes as a lobby… if you want to smoke that bad … go outside!! Other than the aforementioned… the room was very clean, bathroom clean and very hot water. Good WiFi, and comfortable beds.

The Hotel has a very elegant feel upon entrance. It is a self check in, fortunately assisted by a representative from the hotel who made it easier. You need to provide passport or residence card to be scanned, plus pay the city’s hotel tax, not included in the price, but we’ll stated in the offer. The rooms are fairly spacious and super clean and neat. Good working A/C cooled us down quickly from the summer heat and has an English option that is easy to adjust. Well stocked restroom and the standard bidet/toilet. Great value for the money.

This is a self-service hotel with minimal staff. I never needed to contact the staff for anything so I don't know how that that would be. There was somebody to help us with check-in but even check-in is completely self-service. Very secure with having to have a code to get into the front door as well as a code to get into your room. Room was fairly spacious. Beds were comfortable. And the location to get to places in Kyoto was great.
