NEWHOTEL REPUBLIQUE (ex Albert's Hotel)

Found a big ball of hair (size of football) in the middle of the room when we walked in. There was also a broken soap dish hanging off the wall and also exposed wiring... half the light switches didn't appear to do anything? Overall, I suspect the room had not been cleaned, beyond changing the bed.

I cannot recommend this Hotel more highly. Upon arrival in Paris, I initially checked into an AirBnB which turned out to be a nightmare. Cigarette smell, mould growing in the bathroom, stains and crumbs throughout the bed and threats of lawyers when I sought a refund for the remaining nights – the whole works. Ultimately I had to find some new accommodation last minute, late at night, and I was so thankful I found Albert’s Hotel. When I booked directly from their website it came in around $1EU or $2EU more per night than the AirBnB but it’s not even possible to compare the improvement I experienced between the two. I left the AirBnB as soon as I woke the next morning and ventured over to Albert’s hoping to just put my luggage in storage until I could check-in later that day, so as to not impact my limited time in Paris any further. Upon arrival and mentioning my situation, the lovely manager welcomed me with a mouth-watering pain au chocolat and café au lait. She also went above and beyond and found that one of the rooms was currently vacant so allowed me to check-in immediately (around 9AM). It was a very welcome change from the experience I’d had the previous 12 hours. I spent 3 wonderful nights here. The accommodation was spotless, with the bedding and room refreshed each day. I had a great Parisian view out to some other terrace apartments across the road. There was excellent air conditioning and the rain shower was phenomenal. Everything I needed was nearby – shops, restaurants, cafes and Utopie boulangerie on the next corner was out of this world. Siene River is only about 25-30 minute walk away so had many days out enjoying a small sample of everything Paris has to offer. I’m writing this review on my train to Nice after checking out this morning. As I was leaving, I asked if I could purchase a pain au chocolat for my walk to the train and instead, was again given one for free and then offered another coffee. Whilst this place is listed as a 4-star hotel, there is no question in my mind that you receive 5-star service from regular, friendly, hospitable people completing their job to a very high standard. I will definitely be staying here again when I inevitably return to Paris. Merci beaucoup, Albert’s Hotel.
