Don't let the pictures keep you away from this hidden gem. The hotel is being renovated. Our room was like new. Beautifully decorated and the best bed that I have slept in months while being on vacation and staying at expensive hotels. Everything was ready for our stay. Check-in took less than 5 minutes. They had all the information. When we got to our room we were really happy. Everything was beautiful, clean, and spacious room. All staff encountered were nice and friendly. The only con is that the walls are thin, and we were able to hear our neighbors' party next door. Besides that, no complaints. The hotel is near everything. Restaurants, shops, and the train station.

I don’t understand all the bad reviews..yes it is very outdated but we found the room very clean, good room service every day and the shower was immediately hot with no particular problem (beside being very old). Staff was available and helpful when needed. Location is perfect!! Walking distance from Central Park and just a few stop away from the center of Manhattan! It’s honestly better than it looks like :)

Booked our NY vacation last-minute and this hotel is all that was left. We booked a king-sized room. The room did not look like the pictures. We had an iron-burn in our carpet, the wallpaper was peeling off, every surface was chipped, marked or stained. My parents' room had chewing-gum stuck to the windowsill. The mattress did not fit the bed frame. Our shower was unpredictable with the hot water, and my parents never were able to get hot water from theirs. On the plus side, they did not mess up our reservation, I did not find bed bugs, and the rooms were large and warm, and the beds were very soft. Would not stay here again. Edited to add- we paid about $300 a night to stay here, and that price was after discounts I got with my credit card.

Horrible experience. Booked a room here because they had the lowest price (around $600 total for two nights!!!) for an okayish room, or so I thought. Stayed there for 2 nights. First night the heater wasn’t working. Thankfully they got it fixed for night two. Bed was dirty, carpet had stains especially in the corners which looked like mold. The bathroom was full of rust. I didn’t even feel comfortable taking a shower but according to my husband water took 15 minutes to heat up. Oh towels had stains too! The corridors smell like cigarettes. Never book this hotel! The only good part of this hotel was it’s location and being next to the subway - but there is a limit to how much you can up charge for the location.

I read the reviews before booking and was neither surprised not disappointed that the hotel was grungy. I had things to do within walking distance of the hotel and the location was ideal. I paid extra for a "club" room after calling the hotel and being told that club rooms have been more recently updated. The room smelled like mold or fungus when I entered, but that went away after the air conditioner started cooling the room. The AC was very good. The bed and bathroom were fairly clean, but the carpet, walls, and other high touch surfaces were not so nice. There was a refrigerator in the room and it worked. There were four bulbs in the ceiling and each illuminated with a different brightness and/or color. These lights were on a dimmer, but the knob was missing. A pile of towels remained near the elevator from morning until after 10pm at night. One of the 2 free water bottles in my room was half empty. Disappointing - but to be expected given the cleaning staff's attention to detail. The hotel is a reasonable option for those who want to stay in the neighborhood or others on a budget. It is very close to the subway.
