This place was right in the middle of it all. Within walking distance of St. Peter's Basilica and is right inside the Vatican Square. The only down fall was no AC and the shower was tiny. So if you're a bigger person do not recommend. However, we came during the winter so we just kept our window open. Beautiful experience. They have a garden as you walk in. You have to be buzzed in and they will give you a code to get in after hours.

Palazzo Cardinal Cesi is an impressive hotel with a superb location for exploring the Vatican and its surrounding area. I loved the fact I could walk out the front door and view and access to St. Peter's Basilica. The staff were all friendly, personable, helpful and professional. They were always there to answer any questions I had about the area, call me a taxi, suggest great places to eat, etc. I also liked that everyone was willing to carry on a conversation and took an interest in my enjoyment of Rome and the Vatican. The breakfast area was elegant and a great treat each morning. I enjoyed the freshly cut watermelon each morning, the peaches, the pineapple, the fresh breads, the freshly brewed teas and so much more that was offered each morning for breakfast. I enjoyed the luxuriously decorated room in which I enjoyed breakfast each morning. My room was also very nice. It was comfortable, clean, and cozy. I enjoyed the daily Gospels that were deposited at my door each morning. I thoroughly enjoyed my 4-night stay at this elegant and beautiful hotel. My check-out was very early in the morning. They prepared me a nice, healthy breakfast box to take with me to the train station. They also called me a taxi. I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely building and setting, perfectly placed for St Peter's Basilica & Square. Breakfast was excellent, but unfortunately, there's no food available in the evenings. Our 1st floor room was good with a fridge with bottled water provided every day, but there were no tea/coffee making facilities.

One of the closest hotels to St. Peter's Square, this majestic and ancient palace built by a prince of the Catholic Church, is probably the best place to stay in Rome for those who want to be close to the Vatican. Incredibly beautiful courtyard, comfortable rooms (even if slightly small compared to US hotels,) first class service and very good, abundant buffet-style breakfast makes this place a deserved favorite.
