Paradise Retreat

This hotel is one to be avoided totally. Our dream holiday was ruined by this Sri Lankan run family business. I won’t go into detail but I have proven evidence that they are liars and cheats and will ensure that following a full enquiry with booking the listing will be taken down. While we were here a young couple had money stolen from their room by an employee who is still there- need I say more. Check out the photos I posted and steer clear of this place .Perhaps I will go into detail because it is needed to ensure I do the right thing and protect anyone thinking about booking this place. We booked the place in March 2023 because of the website pics. It looked beautiful, authentic and low rise. Check out the pics from NOW! The room they gave us was in the back of the hotel with no sea view and a shared balcony area. The room was dark, dingy and filthy. The only member of staff Hamza, who collects you from the ferry etc is a decent and honest man and I feel sorry for him that he works with such dishonest people. We were given a free ‘up grade ‘ to the room we should have had and HB thrown in. This was to protect themselves from booking fees they claimed but moreover to keep their money. They initially offered only 30 percent of the total cost to leave but after several visits to the police over our 5 day visit from hell we received a cash refund which will no way ever compensate for our experience. We had to move islands because Maafushi was full and I lost all my dives pre- booked on the island. If you have a complaint the manager Suresh will claim it is out of his hands and contact management. Don’t be fooled. After our police visit the owner suddenly appears and it turns out it is his brother Prabash also from Sri Lanka. I tried to help them but after learning that he had failed to re- imburse the couple he had stolen from and telling booking he had, he showed his true colors. I can’t warn people enough - DO NOT CONSIDER THIS HOTEL AT ANY COST!!!!!

everything was very pleasant, friendly staff. Polite! delicious food and clean rooms. They respond quickly to any requests. From the ocean 10 minutes.
