We had a good time at Puerto Azul, however I gave it three stars because during the first six days the cleaning service wasn’t great but after I asked the cleaning personnel about it, it was perfect the following six days. At times there was noise coming from adjacent apartments.

We have been staying in the Puerto Azul for over past fifteen years and have never been disappointed. The owners constantly improve and upgrade the hotel. The best part of staying in the hotel, apart from the location, is the friendly staff, who are only too happy to help.

On first arrival our room STANK of smoke, as well as our aircon not working, we reported this to the front desk where they told us they couldn’t do anything about the smell ( the smell lingered for the whole stay) and offered us a portable aircon unit, which was an okay fit but meant we couldn’t use aircon overnight as the balcony door had to be open to feed the funnel through and it was unsafe to keep the balcony door open all night. the beds were incredible uncomfortable with very scratchy sheets and no duvet, all amenities such as beach towels are an added extra which seemed like a money grab. the pool was okay but lost sunlight around 4pm, overall disappointed. the location was a benefit however didn’t make up for the conditions.

Third visit in 5 years , an excellent base in Marbella on the seafront , short walk to the ferry to Puerto Banus ( worthwhile ) , a good walk through the park to Old Town ( has to be done ) and right on the promenade with a wide choice of restaurants and bars. Suggest airport transfer rather than car hire as parking is horrendous , none at hotel or on the streets nearby . The rooms are modern and minimalist but very comfortable , the ones on the front ( our choice ) have a wide wrap around balcony with table and chairs and sun beds providing sun or shade all day and stunning views overlooking the promenade , beach and sea. Breakfast is excellent at 10 euros with a wide choice of fresh juices, cooked food, pastries , ham and cheese and fresh fruit . Can pay on the day or prebook. A couple of gripes - they charge 3 euros a day for the safe in your room and it wouldn’t be much effort to provide a couple of coffee pods , washing up liquid - a small amount of basics that you need when self catering . The prices have increased considerably over the years , I’m not convinced it is now such good value for money but strongly recommended nevertheless.

This is a apartment building more like a 2 star motel. The basics are there. Studio room was very small and dated looking. About 200 sq ft. Some of the other rooms look renovated and are better without cracked ceilings and bad paint. The bed was very firm and has no padding. Only the direct waterfront units have a nice view. Nh hotel nearby is better. Wyndham and the many timeshare properties are better. Banos is a much nicer port than Marbella with all the high end shops and hotels there cost 130 when this place cost 150. Parking is nearby in underground public garages. It’s about 30 a day. WiFi does not work. If you want to stay in Marbella. Stay in the old town center. It’s the only nice part
