Our stay at Root Karakoy Hotel presented a blend of positive and challenging experiences. Opting for a suite, we were pleased with the satisfactory cleaning services. However, a significant drawback marred our overall enjoyment—the persistent sewage smell throughout the hotel, proving resistant to multiple attempts to address it with the staff, possibly due to the building's age. Furthermore, we encountered issues with card payments within the hotel, despite their smooth operation outside. While the staff was helpful, a minor language barrier added to the challenges. The gym, located in the basement, shared the unpleasant smell and lacked fresh air and natural light. Damp walls, exacerbated by rainy weather during our November visit, further diminished the gym experience. On a positive note, the hotel's breathtaking view during breakfast was truly remarkable. The Turkish breakfast provided added a delightful dimension to our stay. The hotel's convenient proximity to taxis and its closeness to Taksim Square were advantageous. However, the challenge of airport drop-off taxis lacking easy access to the hotel door proved inconvenient, requiring us to handle our luggage independently. Another positive aspect was the presence of a food shop right in front of the hotel. The affordable prices, warm hospitality, and late-night closing time made it a convenient and welcoming option. Internally, the hotel felt small and dimly lit, with a living room and desk area that couldn't be fully enjoyed due to the persistent bad smell. In conclusion, while our overall experience was good, the challenges faced during our stay make it unlikely for us to consider returning to this hotel in the future.

A gem of a hotel. LOVED the location, views, decor, and breakfasts (best I've had in Turkey by far and the others were already excellent). Was worried the neighborhood would be noisy but it was fine! Great bars a block away. Only noise was mosque across streetwhich woke up my partner, not me. Staff was good, especially room cleaning and leaving water bottles each day. Wish the pillows were more comfortable and there were more space in bathroom to put toiletries. Bed fine.

Our first room was very small and someone had obviously smoked cigarettes in the room. When asking the reception for another room because the room smelled like cigarettes, they did not believe us. Only the day after someone else actually listened to us and we got another room. The other room was almost as disappointing. There is no functioning AC, and therefore the rooms were very warm. Opening a window didn’t improve our sleep due to the loud noise from the street. The only positives about the hotel are the breakfast and the location. Otherwise, this hotel is not worth the money

A very bad experience in this hotel. The only good thing is the location otherwise you will enjoy nothing and I believe you will find other hotels with good location and better service. My reservation was a sea view deluxe room from their website and when I arrived all what I got is a street view with partial sea view and when I asked them to have the room I reserved they told me another guest come before me and he had the room 😡😡can you just imagine that , I insisted to have my room they told me ok tomorrow morning one will be available. Next day I call them again to have my room but for sorry the lady in the reception told me that all our room is the same and the view in mine is what we have for sea view. The last day I asked them that I need to weigh my luggage but they told me that the scale is broken and at 11pm another one will be available. They ensured me that normally hotels didn’t afford this service ( as if it was the first hotel I ever stayed in ) next day in the morning they told me we will send it to your room , which was not happened, then they told me it was in another guest room and when he finished they will send it to me , finally they told me the guest did not answer them and they had nothing to do . Series of excuses and the same result you got nothing.

Horrible experience staying in this hotel. We have been here for three nights, the first night, WiFi was not working, the receptionist did nothing and until the next morning after three calls to the reception it got fixed simply by rebooting the router in 2 secs….the third night WiFi’s not working well again, what’s more…there’s no hot water in the bathroom! the receptionist again asked us to wait till the next morning….how helpful was that? Not sure if that’s the service level I should have expected from a 4-star hotel?!?!
