Centrally Located. Not very expensive. Staff are very friendly. Private Rooms available. Working air conditioning. Bottled Dasani water everyday. The bed in room 101 is very hard with a large dip in the middle - we didn't mind but I know some people don't like that. Fridge was unplugged and no plug for it in the room that it could reach. Definitely had a rodent problem. Laying in bed at night all you can hear is rats scratching the walls, this was fairly constant throughout the stay. Think this comes with staying so close to the market but it wasn't very comforting.

The hostel is in a great location, a few minutes from the War Remnants Museum and the Ben Thanh Market. The dorm beds are quite comfortable, however they make noise each time you move as the frame is in metal. Overall the hostel is clean, it has a nice lounge area and a kitchen too. Overall I had a great stay.

We stayed at Saigon Gao hostel for 3 nights earlier this week. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and I really like they did what seemed to be a one off happy hour where every person could have 1 free beer or soft drink or water. We were staying in a private room, so It really helped us to mingle with other guests. The location was also down a side street, so that made it really quiet. Although the room opposite ours had a dog which would bark as anyone walked past, which wasn't ideal! Getting to the main sights Is quite easy due to where it was situated in district 1. In terms of the room though, this is where it slightly fell down for us. The room itself had all the facilities we needed and it was really clean which was great, so intially we were really pleased. However, we had 2 issues that impacted our stay. The first was quite a bad smell coming from the bathroom, which I can only assume was the drains. It would spread to the rest of the apartment whilst we were asleep or when we were out, so it made staying in the apartment was a bit unsavoury. We did let the staff about this after the first night and they said they'd have a look, although im not too sure what had been done to remedy it, as it still smelt when we got back later that day. The other issue was the bed. Personally I found it rock hard and uncomfortable which meant I'd wake up with a bad back each morning. An upgrade to a softer mattress would be my recommendation. The above might not be the same if staying in one of the dorms though. If it hadnt have been for the smell and bed, it would have 5 star

If you consider price, quality, cleanliness, service and the overall vibe of this hostel, it's an easy 5 out of 5. For the price, it's the best hostel i've stayed in. The rooms have a balcony, air conditioner, lockers, extra wide king size beds with privacy screens and ensuite. You very rarely get all that, let alone for around $7USD a night. The area is perfect, quiet spot away from the busy street, but walk 25m and you're in the busiest streets i've ever seen with open markets, scooters everywhere you look, bars and restaurants. It's not too touristy, yes there are foreigners walking around, but this is a good thing in this area trust me, you can find some conversation that way and discuss how on earth you'll cross the busy street. It is not a party hostel, there is no bar, people will go out to drink and eat because it's cheap here, so hostel stays quiet, which is perfect. Highly recommended 👌
