The basilica itself is much smaller than the city’s duomo but San Fedele has it’s own cute little charm. I find the surrounding streets to be a little more colorful and the plaza itself, in front of the church, is much bigger — compared to that of the Como Duomo — this makes San Fedele Basilica a very relaxing spot off the crowded, tourist-filled, tiny streets. Great to get an apero right outside the many shops and coffee places while enjoying the Romanesque edifice in front of you! Good historical landmark!

Nestled in the heart of Como's historic center, the Basilica of San Fedele stands as a significant Catholic place of worship. This sacred sanctuary is dedicated to the eponymous saint, known for his role as an evangelizer of the Como church and his martyrdom in Sorico during the 3rd century. Regrettably, I was unable to enter the basilica during my visit due to an ongoing event.

We stayed just next to this beautiful church while staying in Como, has traditional bell tower that rings on the half hour. Unsure of the times the church is open but we had a look inside just before service on Sunday morning. So beautiful!
