It is impressive to see 1000 ancient statues all in one huge room. There is even a catalogue with the name of each of them, it's accessible on the back. They are sacred representations, and no pictures are allowed inside unfortunately (the area is under videosurveillance, though!) Definitely worth the visit.

Amazing temple built 750 years ago that withstood the earthquakes. The building is 118m long with a wooden infrastructure. Pretty amazing. Nice garden on the side. Very busy place in this touristic season

Great wooden hall with all the thousand wooden statues inside. Unfortunately it is prohibited to take photos inside to protect the delicate nature of the statues but a great site to see for Buddhism enthusiasts. The main statue of Kannon with the thousand arms is amazing. Also interesting to read about the history of the complex being used for archery contests and one test being for some one to shoot an arrow straight across the entire length of the back hallway and hitting a target. Closes at 4pm March - November and closes at 5pm November to March. Not sure why it’s longer in winter. But they recommend last entry an hour before closing. Close to bus stops and sightseeing tour busses will stop by as well.
