Recommend you check what room type you are booking. I am surprised to read all the terrific reviews about the rooms. Ours was not a renovated room, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, hard and lumpy, the pillow shocking (it had mildew stains and unstructured), and the shower no more than an unreasonable 700x700. This was not a 4 star hotel room regardless of the uniqueness of being a cave room. However, Michele and staff were very friendly & helpful and the breakfast served was delicious. The location is fabulous.

What a dream place to stay in Matera! All the rooms in this cute boutique hotel are caves, totally renovated! Our room had a fabulous bath (complete with ambient colored lights); others had either bath or shower- all are unique! The staff, Iris and Michele couldn't be more welcoming and willing to assist in any way possible. The breakfast is simply amazing, served in the lower cave! The location is perfect for walking to a variety of intesting places and views. What a wonderful way to start our VBT bike tour!

What a delight! Exceptional accommodations, and service. The rooms are all unique and very charming, in the old part of the old city. Breakfast was delicious and Michele warmly greeted us each morning. We would definitely stay here again!
