This place makes you feel like you’re in the alps. The wooden panelling and cosy atmosphere (without skimping on bed size) is appreciated in all seasons, and makes you feel comfortable above what you would expect from a hostel. The staff are incredibly friendly, talkative and accommodating, and made me wish the food and drink lasted 24/7. Speaking of the food, it is some of the best I have had in Hokkaido, maybe even Japan! Hokkaido is known for its lamb, and the dishes I tried made me understand why. I would thoroughly recommend the lamb carpaccio, lamb with basil sauce and lamb karaage. Everything is reasonably priced, especially when you factor in the quality and the company you keep. Thank you to Wataru, Yuta, Ryota and Mai for having me to stay at this amazing place, even if only for 2 nights. This is my favourite hostel in Japan!

Oh wow, my month staying at Sappolodge went way too fast! I had the opportunity to be a live-in helper - making beds and helping the restaurant in exchange for a little room in the attic. I spoke zero Japanese when I arrived but after practicing with staff and guests, I speak more than zero! The staff are so friendly - feel free to chat with them in Japanese or in English as both languages are used at the hostel. I made some friends in Sapporo who came by for dinner and drinks. That reminds me - the food is amazing! Please try some of Innosen’s specials. It’s kind of Japanese-European fusion and it’s fancy but not expensive. Vegetarian options are available. Also, any cocktail with mint in it has mint grown right there on the grounds. So whether you come for dinner, for a few nights, or to be a helper for 1 month plus, I think you’ll enjoy yourself!

I will be very recommend if you like the noisy ,because the first floor is bar and it’s close at 2am which means the loud music will shut down at 2am! I can’t sleep for three nights because of the loud music and when the people move the chair in the bar,the harsh sound really would kill me.

Really nice atmosphere and very cozy. Downstairs is a small restaurant that seems quite popular in the evening. The shower rooms are pretty standard and come with soap, but there is a set time that you are allowed to shower. You'll need your own towel too. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bed is cozy and the room and provided bedding is enough to keep you warm (if you're visiting in the middle of winter like I am). Overall great experience.
