For our Christmas vacation it was first station and we stayed just one day at Basel in this hostel at private rooms and it was clean, quiet, modern hotel/hostel. When you arrive there you will have Basel card and you will have free transportation with it, and i have never seen something like that before at any countries. It is really awesome! You can easily check in, and the stuff was so friendly and helpful, especially i want to say thanks to Nicole. If you go to Switzerland you will see the difference from other countries. Have a nice vacation!

I had a great stay at the SILO hostel! The building is architecturally very impressive and it's quite cool to be inside an actual silo! The beds are comfortable and come with lamp and charging ports. There are no desks in the rooms but you can work downstairs in the restaurant/bar area (it closes at 10pm). The rooms are big (some are overlooking the highway though) but there's not too much storage space. They all look clean and new though! Be prepared that the breakfast is very simple some nutty granola or cheese with bread and oranges. Overall the location is the best thing about the hostel it's in a lovely residential area, quite close to the riverside! I recommend if you're looking for a nice budget place to stay close to the centre of Basel!

I had an amazing stay at Hostel SILO in Basel! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-designed, providing a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The organization and attention to detail throughout the hostel were impressive – from check-in to check-out, everything ran smoothly. One of the highlights was definitely the breakfast. The food was not only delicious but also offered a great variety of options to suit different tastes. It was a wonderful way to start each day of my stay. Moreover, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing me with valuable tips and recommendations for exploring Basel.

Very interesting building, cool details all over the place. But our bed was broken and that's not acceptable unfortunately. That's the main thing a hotel is selling, regardless of cool architecture and hip forniture.... Fresh breakfast, not much variety but great quality. I think it's also super weird that croissants come with an extra charge... All in all a cool concept which needs to rethink some basic features.

I really loved this place. I stayed with my two daughters in a four bed dorm just for our use. The staff were kind and friendly and did everything possible to make our stay in Basel memorable and enjoyable. This included lending us wickelfisch, the floating bags people use for their clothes when they float down the Rhine in the summer. Do it, it's wonderful! It was clean, fantastically designed and comfortable. Even in the searing summer heat. The breakfast was good and we ate in the restaurant one evening, which was excellent. The restaurant is quite pricey, but cheaper than almost everywhere else in town (Basel is famously expensive). The Basel card is provided to all guests, which gives free transport and half price entry to most museums, so you barely notice you're staying out of the centre of town.
